a gentleman called me tonight ,looking for a 67 SD396 hardtop that he bought originally in 67.
this was a 73817 SD
it was originally purchased in Toronto at Hern Pontiac and it was originally code Y butternut yellow.
last time he saw it was in 1969 and he is looking to find it or at best find a replacement. he told me he was looking at the butternut one out west on kijiji.
more info the car was built June 13th 1967 so it is a very late build it was also a 4 speed with black interior. (763) he said no vinyl top.
the 396 was coded T0404EF
he still has the vin # and had george send him the documentation
i told him about the site and maybe he will show here,he said he has a picture of it.
any leads? does anyone remember a car like this around the toronto area
let me know?

fred, if he has the vin, tell him to get the $20. MOT printout. if the car is still around, it'll list the current owner.
Yah, like Dave said, tell him to spend the $20 first to see if it is still registered to anyone. If not, I guess he can start working his way across the other provinces. I certainly don't remember it, but it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Does he still have the contact details of the person he sold it to? Why doesn't he start there?

funny, a friend with a 66 beaumont was telling me he wished he still had a 58 MGA he had back in the early to mid 1970's-he lived in Port Colborne, I go appraise one near Hamilton, the owner says its a local car-a little more talking-came from Port Colborne-how many of these British toys could have been in a population of 12-15,000 back then ? The car is restored but checking the MTO package my friend owned in the early 1970's!-needle in a hay stack yes, but not impossible
i think he must have done that already ,but i think hes hoping it went out of province, which im guessing is quite possible being a low production ,high demand vehicle.
but then maybe its smashed or parted?
how many of the 451 do you think are still around? its funny but with the registry it seems alot of SDs were saved as compared to regular cars

your right there does seem to be a higher % of surviving SD's than lower models, I guess people always thought them to be something.
try Bill Brown in Scarbrough, he had one that he painted yellow-its in Ancaster now-the car came out of Bolton in the mid 1990's, I can't seem to think of any yellow ones around here-strange its such a good color, my silver one is yellow now-Mark has it.
I will get around to giving you registry info one of these days.
I had a friend tell me yesterday that my old 63 Corvette has resurfaced and is for sale. I haven't seen it for almost 20 years. He ran a MTO search on it and found it, or the owner contacted him back. I'd like to see it again, but can't afford it now!
two of those 67's were mine-I had two others-the paperwork is buried-I'll get it out, I had a 67 custom, and still have pieces of a 67 SD, had a 68 SD all these I should have vin's plus my 66 but there were others that I won't have info-I'll get it all together an get it out to you
