June 2009 Feature Car

With summer just around the corner it only makes sense to feature a convertible this month. Marty Fleury has it made with this gorgeous 1966 Parisienne Custom Sport ragtop. As you will read below, Marty and his wife put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this Poncho to make it the beauty you see here. Here's Marty's story:

Beautiful car, years of hard work certainly paid off, enjoy your summer cruising with the top down and you can come visit here in the winter and have the top down too! smile.gif

I love those 66's.  I can't remember where I read this but apparently the grille design that year was an attempt to capture the nature of a cat's face with the nose and the swept back whiskers.  I think it really worked quite well. You just don't see that level of artistry in new designs.  The concept worked the best in the Parisiennes and down with the 4 part grille but I still always was struck by the elegance (if you will) of the Grande Parisienne grille.  I also found it puzzling that the Parisienne and down grille was probably more expensive to manufacture than the Grande grille  which seemed a bit backwards from a production point of view  That and the very light trim I would  guess were again an attempt to be sort of elegant and to also really bring out the lines of the body.

Anyway just some random thoughts.

I also really appreciate the posting as my hardtop is also Lemonwood yellow and will be returning to that colour so its a nice reference.

Great stuff! great story.

Hi Marty
Had the opportunity to meet you and the misses a week or so back at the Orangeville cruise night.
Great looking car and the pride of workmanship and ownership is very evident.
As we live in the same part of the province I'm sure we'll bump into each other again.

What night and where is the Orangeville cruise-in ?

Hillar you just gave me a great idea. We could take the TO pose on the road and meet our members around the GTA at their local cruises!
