1965 SD, 327[300HP]4-speed 12 bolt,with factory tach. How rare???

I have a 1965 Beaumont SD  that was a 327[300HP], code L74, 4-speed muncie,12 bolt positraction, power steering, power brakes & metallic brake facing, codes J50 & J65,  HD suspension, code F40,
tinted windshield, black vinyl roof ,Regal red exterior/black interior
It is a  project car, needs floor pan, rusty under windshield, interior in bad condition but complete.I have all trim, gills, bumpers etc]   It also has a  built in factory Tachometer, code U16.  Someone told me there were only 7 SDs built with one. Could that be true, where could I find out??

I would certainly say you should contact GM Vintage Vehicle Services, especially while the documenting process is still available. A car that unusual certainly will appreciate with a pedigree attached.

And welcome here. We love pictures, project cars to trailer queens!

Never mind, I re-read that you have your documents. Have you tried contacting Vintage to ask specifially about the tach?

I know one car in Niagara Falls has the tach and both Joe Lison`s cars have the tach. I would think there is more than 7 with that option. If I was closer I would be on your door step asking if you would sell. Thanx for posting pictures

Quite the car and surely worth a full restoration. She'll be a sweetheart when completed!

Welcome aboard

I would definitely say the tach is a very rare option! The 12 bolt rear end was also not a common option ticked off on 300 hp cars.

Cool car and really neat on the Conroy thing!.

U16 isn't common but I'd think there'd be more than 7 built too..

Doing the math on a close example, '64 Chevelles production of RPO U16 is known and was shipped on 5734 cars of 387,119 built which is approx. 1.5 percent of total cars..

So if a similar percentage was considered against total '65 Beaumont production of 8910 cars, you'd get almost 135 cars..

Certainly not a perfect method and sorry if any of my #'s are incorrect..

Nice car. I have a 283 65 SD 4spd car with a tach and a 12 bolt, and the is 2 other 300 hp 327 cars near by. They are hard to find but they are around. Man I would definitely want that in my collection of 65 Beaumonts. If it's for sale let me know.

I believe all the 23 1965 L79 (327ci-350hp) Acadian Beaumonts came with tac's plus i know of several 300hp & 283 that were special ordered with tac's.
