Been trying to order coil springs for my 61 pontiac parisenne locally, but only listing for springs is for US pontiacs. E-mailed tech at Ames performance in the US and he also had no listing for canadian pontiacs, but told me the canadian pontiacs were built on chev chassis? I know the US pontiacs are also known as the wide track cars. Would US coils fit on my 61 or should I order coils for a 61 chev Impala?
Thanks guys, anyone have a part number for 59 chev coil springs, this has a 6 cylinder in it, would coils for a 283 be to strong
Well, there are conflicting reports, but my money is on:
283 is lighter than the 6, so:
Coils for 283 will be OK for the 6.
And - it will be a giant hassle, but when I pull the 261 from my 56, I am going to weigh it at an approved/licensed/registered/validated freaking weigh station, and before I put in my 496 w/ aluminum heads and intake and water pump, I am going to weigh it at the same place, and then we will have some REAL data on comparative weights (sorry this will not help with small blocks but there is ongoing controversy about SBC versus BBC weights and the venerable Chevy 6 fits in there ...)

Correct you will find that the 6cyl springs are heavier thickness and stronger the V8 springs are thinner because the SBC is much lighter than the stovebolt
