I have been busy working on this event since January. Everything seems to come together near the end. If you are in Toronto, Broadview and Mortimer area come on down. It is sure to be fun!

these fests are a great time! We just had Hamiton bay front wing fest this past weekend. April wine played Friday nite and Honeymoon Suit played Saturday nite with a great fire works diplay at the end of the nite. They gate the whole area so you can drink your beer or wine any where.Weather was the best weekend we have had this year. Sounds like your Ribfest will be a great time too.

Thanks guys for your support. We are doing a one day only Canada Day Rib Fest party, never been done as far as we know, to celebrate our great Country and raise money for local commumity charities we work with. I know I will have fun. biggrin

So what's the plan Stan?  It looks like it is fairly certain it won't be happening at Todmorden Mills.

You are correct Hillar, City has revoked our Permit due to Strike by CUPE.

The show must go on and in fact when I gave my interview to a reporter yesterday It looks like we might be the only show in town ! Thanks to CUPE we may raise more than expected!

We are relocating to Whistler's - 995 Broadview for the day. Same line up of activities, same BBQ ribs, same sweet corn and even colder Beer!! Capacity is 250 on Patio, 300 on main floor and 250 on banquet floor for a total of 800!

I haven't seen the local paper yet but apparently the headline story is about Canada Day festivities being cancelled by the CUPE strike  EXCEPT  Big Ray is quoted as saying Rotary Ribfest at Whistler's is only show in town.

Have to get the Tbird out of the garage to do a clean up and with the way the weather is , I think a trip to the rib fest is a great idea. We all got to eat and a little drive away from the work list won`t hurt.

I just got in from a great day. This is the first time our club did this one day only Canada Day event and it was a great success. Astro Jet and 65 Camino came by and were still there when I left! Apparently some interesting photos were taken with me dancing with a lively 36 year old ! It was my duty as Chairman of the event.  biggrin

I know we are not a formal club but I think we should appoint Ray as our "Social Director for Life".  Every event I have been to run by Ray has been first class.  And those ribs yesterday, they were to die for! hungry.gifheadbang.gif
I have never had ribs like that before, you picked up a rack by one of the bones and meat literally slid off!omfg.gif  And the sauce they were marinated in was awesome as well.  If we ever have a CP gathering in TO, we're going to have these ribs and the Tone-Dogs playing, as 65Camino said, they rocked the house! number1.gif

Thanks Boys, I have to Admit, It was one Heck of a Party. The Tone Dogs are an awesome band, led by my friend Alex Carter. These boys have real jobs and do this because they love music. All our acts were top notch, you missed the Voodoo Kings who were real pros too, some Juno award winners in that band.

Anyway I have no idea who that woman was but when I told her I was 52 she told me I was Hot! biggrin

Oh ya, BBQ sauce was supplied by Bulls Eye, that's a Kraft brand.

The Tone Dogs play on the patio of Whistler's every Wednesday night 6 -9:30  during the summer so if anyone in the GTA wants to drive in for a get togther let us know and we will pick a date. I might even be able to arrange for the ribs again.

The accounting is in and it looks like we made just over $10,000 from this one day event. That is real solid for a first time event almost killed by a CUPE strike. I am really happy about this biggrin
