Washer pump replacement 1966

Hey Fellas,

The new washer pump has arrived. It is not an exact match to the original. Kind of a universal sort of thing. Anyways it will fit but I need to change the "globe cam" or drive gear, with the the new one it cam with to get the correct spacing. I'm at a loss as to how the old cam comes off? Any tips before I break something and need a wiper motor too...haha.

just tap it, with a rubber mallet, and see if anything falls off

Any pictures? On my '65 it seems no one makes a replacement, your year is different.

I'll give that a try. I already pried on it pretty hard. Maybe the rubber hammer will loosen it up. (fingers crossed)

I think you can still get the original GM one. Try your local dealer. I have a P/N somewhere too. I put the original one back on the Camino but it was still a beast to get it right for a few reasons but at least its correct. Use the bugwash not the blue winter fluid as the alcohol in the winter fluids dry out the diaphragms in short order, then drain it in the winter or park it inside !!

Thanks for the advice too bad I already waited 3 weeks for this one haha. It's funny you mention the bug wash senario. When i bought the car it was full of the blue stuff and the diaphragm went after only a couple of uses.

thats my own opinion of course, but I know what alcohol does to rubber parts.... I will see if I have the PN for you to see if you can get a new one. I know NPD has OEM pumps as thats where I got mine. I got a mickey mouse one too and chucked it somewhere

Elroy would might know for sure, but I can't see why it wouldn't be. The two years a very similar aside from some cosmetics.
