Hot enough for ya?

ahhh. Good old SW Ont summer heat and humidity. Before we start to complain, lets look back about 6 months...

I'm not a fan of hot weather, so I designed the shop accordingly. We're fortunate to have an 100-acre field to the west of us, so the prevailing winds arrive unhindered.

And, I designed the shop to take advantage of those winds. The overhead doors on two sides, and the venting skylight contribute to keeping things very comfortable.

So, in spite of a very hot day, I got the shutters on and decorative framing around several of the doors and windows.

And, no, I didn't use my Father's Day gift today. I was too busy. biggrin

With the hot weather comes severe weather. A tornado hit near Avon Ont (15 minute drive from here). More on the way..

You should have seen the downpour here in town. Had to drive home and discuss my reno plans with the contractor. Halfway home and I could barely see in front of me. Damn of all days I drove my Mustang with bad wipers. Had to have the windows down to put up with the heat from under the hood.

Wound up beside Big Ray on the way back and tried to give him a ride but he didn't want to get out of Suburban...

My car thermometer said 31 today (87F). I think the humidex was 37 (98F). It's cooled off now (20). Great weather for the garden though!

We seen the Tornado from the back of our shop! I was getting ready to fasten myself to the hoist! It was the first I have ever seen pretty cool.

22C today here in Penticton, with a forecast of 30C (86F) for tomorrow's "Peach City Beach Cruise" show.  LOTS of beautiful cars already here including plenty from Washington state.

The heat has broken here in the big smoke.  Supposed to be down to 22 on Sunday with showers.  I still have not turned on the AC yet, I don't want to give Hydro One a penny more than I have to.biggrin

OMG Hillar, my allergies are so bad I can't sleep with a single window open so unfortunately my hydro meter is ticking, not to mention living with a woman of that special age that requires constant cooling biggrin Last night I was wearing my windbreaker in the house.

I'm on the coast but the heat & humidity here the last few days have been terrible. Gotta go put the air conditioner in the bedroom now.
