454 Oil Pan Gasket Question

I'm in the midst of swapping over the correct oil pan for my car. Do you guys recommend I use sealer with the gasket or leave it as is? When I say "sealer" I mean "Right Stuff". I know that stuff is pretty permanent but I don't want any leaks.

Don't know what "Right Stuff" is, but I'd recommend RTV Silicone.  I have had very good luck with the black Permatex silicone.

Hey Todd when i put the 400 together this winter i used Permatex Anerobic flange sealer on everything. The stuff looks like grape jelly and it stays tacky and does an excellent job i have used it for years ,my two cents!

very light bead across the pan side, a little dab where the gasket meets the 1/2 moons. gasket goes under the 1/2 moon edges.

fel pro makes a very nice 1 piece pan gasket for the mark IV too. pn OS30061T

agreed, go with the one piece, its a little more money but well worth it, if your doing it in car just use a little on the pan to hold it in place till you get it up, same rule as welding clean, clean, and reclean

Too late- I already have the two piece. I'll use a bit on the pan side.
Thanks
Todd
