I don't know if any of your remember that there was a 69/69 Big car power bench seat for sale on here back in December/January well I bought it for my 69 Beaumont wagon I am restoring right now.It was probably the mosy challenging seat to have re-upholstered out of all the cars I have ever had the interiors redone in them.I spoke on a 3 way call with the V.P. of the upholstery company( the manufacturer) and was very specific the what I wanted.Got the " YA YA i KNOW WHAT YOU NEED"Well after 3 tries at getting it right for this seat they finally just sent me the material and the heat pressed centers to build our own covers. The upholstery guys I use here in Winnipeg are second to none,so they said get us the material and they built the covers themselves. After 6 months and I will not even begin to reveal my cost of doing this seat, but it is finished and I am very excited to put it into the wagon when it come back from paint this fall.It shows in the picture that the plastic doesn't match all that well-but it does all the same in reality, just not in these pics.Flash distorts colors badly when you have two different medias together. The dealer in Winnipeg was helpful in getting me fixed up with the poor quality product and the oversights of the manufacturer .-Thank god for that.Anyway I now have a custom upholstered Strato bench seat for my next wagon and it was worth all the effort.
I changed the seat track to an A-body power bench one.The width of the seats is the same as I asked the measurements before I bought it.I will have to modify the seats feet a little to make it fit,but I'll make it look factory so I am not worried about that.It is a very comfortale seat to sit in as well.
I always liked the look of the Strato bench. Your upholsterer did a great job making it look like a factory piece. I have heard the "Ya Ya" story before so I have a good idea of what you went through. Nice job John.
Looks great John.I remember when I picked up my wagon front bench ,it looked so cool I kept it in my living room for the 6 months it took for my bodywork to get finished. Can't wait to see it when shes done.
Turc's Upholstery-they have done all my cars seats for the last twenty years or so-they are second to none. They are not the cheapest-but you get what you pay for.I love their work!! The two guys closed their shop and just do it out of their home and garage now.
