through the lot of the local GM dealer and not hit a car. I stopped in today to see if they had any G8's and I couldn't believe how little stock they had. You're golden if you want a Cobalt but that's about it. I think maybe 4 trucks, three Aveo's, some Buicks but little else. No G8's and their ONE Camaro must be stored inside after hours. Either the dealers aren't ordering news stock because of the current situation or they can't order stock. Anyone know?
local GM dealers are the same around here. There is nothing for these guys to sell. My new Camaro is to be delivered tomorrow and all the sales staff want to know if I am taking it or can they start calling the list they have for buyers.
Fellas, the reason they have no stock is because they can not afford to finance the inventory, not because there is nothing to sell. It's a catch 22 for them. Look around and you will see the same at Honda and others too. I know a sales manager at Honda store and he told me he had $40,000 a month tied up in inventory, he finally got rid of his holding yard a few blocks away which held 300 cars and just puts stock on his lot now, less than 50 cars.
Our lot at work is packed solid. Our owner(s) have deep pockets though. They are part of a dealer group which seems to be the only way to survive these days.. I believe they own 5 or 6 stores.
