What was the GM truck Guys thinking

car resto 086.jpg

This is the right way were the two frames meet

This is where the other side is mounted. I guess one to many times leaning
back to get my wallet at Timmies.
Why not mount at the corner.....that would make sense.
I phoned GM to get a price after trying all the wreckers......$3000 for a front power
seat. Then after my brain started to work I asked for bolts for the frame to seat.
There is none in Canada. Stopped by a wrecker and found a 94 with power and took out a couple of bolts and the guy gave them to me for free.
Now if I can weld it and put another piece of steel for strenght without buring the seat confuseconfuseconfuse

I hope it holds for you, I see your seat is ripped in exactly the same place as mine. I saw leather covers at Canadian Tire for $59.99 for the entire seat, been thinking on it. They looked alright. Th eonly think is all teh cutouts for power and recliner and what not that have to be made. OEM sell for $200 for the seat alone!

That's it man, as long as you can pass along the enjoyment of working on cars/trucks to your kids, and they dig it, you are doing the right thing!

And if your seat doesn't break again soon, all the better smile.gif

One day Pascal. Yours will pick up on their Father's love of Pontiac's.
I was so pooped and tired at the end of the day and asked if he wanted to help....He lite up like a Christmas tree and got right in there.
I've been buying him tools every year, so when he moves out he'll have a nicer chest of tools than his Dad

Those seat frames were famous for that, I had one on my truck that did that while still under warranty. We probably replaced hundreds of those. Kinda surprised they didn't have a recall on them for that reason.
