When you find a dead spider inside your carburetor you know ...

it was REALLY time to rebuild that carb smile.gif

Clearly My Old Girl had been sitting for some time, based on spiderwebs etc. I found when rebuilding the suspension, and since she had been increasingly hard to start and even worse to keep running, I figured there was a fuel delivery problem, so I decided to start with a carb rebuild, hey, I used to do it all the time many years ago, figured it was like riding a bicycle, and even though I feared that EPA would have outlawed that great protective-skim-on-the-top carb cleaner, I bought what is currently available and jumped on in ...

New carb cleaner seems to work pretty good, and it sure gives you a headache when you breathe the fumes, so maybe EPA missed this, shhhhhhhhh don't tell them!

So here's my crusty old carb at the start

and here are the major pieces before dunking in the cleaner

and I will let you know how it all turns out, if I can manage to get all of them little damn pieces (these are only the choke pieces, eh):

Bad is the word. Also the float needle was stuck in its seat, the power discharge ball was stuck in its hole, and the pump piston was stuck in its bore! Only drama so far is the choke piston and its wee tiny pin leaped free and jumped to the floor in an obvious attempt to escape by rolling under the work bench, but I foiled their evil plot bu searching them out with my 120v trouble light smile.gif
