Toronto Stinks

Born and raised here but look what years of an NDP Mayor does to your town. I'm afraid McLeans has got it right on all counts and the culprit is right there with a banana peel on his head...nice!

What do you say Hillar?

I am 60  and always found Toronto too big and too busy (small town thinking) but was always "proud of it" as a clean safe city...  Now that it is populated by millions of Toyota Corollas, carrying 5 small people, I am glad I  live in a small town.... BTW  there are 10(yes) Corolla's a day, here in Clinton, getting driving licences!  Back to Garbage,  its the result of Government vs Unions  Why not welcome new Canadian wanna bes with a chance to collect garbage... They could swarm the picket lines  and clean up n/c  lol

Oh ya leaving for the cottage for two weeks, probably won't be on much.....Hammock Time!

Most of TO is very nice.  Where Ray, Darryl and I live, you would never even know there is a garbage strike because people where we live take pride in their community, as they do in many other places.

Unfortunately we have gutless, spineless, coward of a mayor who acts like he represents only the striking CUPE members, instead of the 3 million citizens of the city.  He is afraid to even have a city council meeting now, so the responsible councillors who actually are prepared to do their job instead of going AWOL for the strike like him and the other NDP hacks on council need to get 23 signatures on a petition so that they can FORCE the mayor to call a meeting to actually do his job of being mayor - what he was elected and getting paid for to do!  People are being held up at dump sites for hours because the pickets will only let in one car every 15 minutes, which is completely against the law, they are only allowed to delay you 1 minute in order to hand out information, but the mayor does nothing, won't get an injunction, won't instruct the police to protect people who want to get through, nothing.

He is completely in the back pockets of the unions who got him elected so he is afraid to do anything that might "offend" them.  His whole plan seems to be to wait for the province to bring in back to work legislation giving him an easy way out and having the whole matter sent to arbitration where he can then just shrug his shoulders and say the province imposed a settlement.  As I said, a sorry excuse for a man, let alone a mayor.  He has spent recklessly, driving the budget up, hired hundreds of non-necessary workers in the middle of a recession, he is slowly driving the city towards bankruptcy.

I have talked to many friends and neighbours and they have never been as p!ssed about a mayor as they are now.  Enjoy your remaining months at Socialist Silly Hall King David, you are toast in the next election!

Ray, when I click that link all I get is a picture of the cover, not the article itself.

I lived in T.O. for 25+ years ... all I ever miss about the city is the variety, and culture.
I actually grew to hate the city.
Living on PEI has improved my life 100%.

I'm 38. Grew up in a small town out side of montreal in the 70-80's (go habs!) Mtl was always a fun friendly city. Toronto has been always dirty and somewhat dangerous city (gunplay has been rampant for a long time)Then out in Vancouver for 14 yrs, beautiful city, could stagger home through main and hastings in the 90's hammered at all hours of the night, no worries. Toronto has always had garbage strikes, guns  and the NO GOOD STINKIN' LEAFS!!!smile Sorry if some of you guys are upset, but smalltown life/ small city (Van in the early 90's) is the way to go. How old are you?'
