I was wondering, if we all had different experiences, with wives who loved/ didn't love cars? My wife of 41.75 years loves her Suburban, with all the chrome, I can put on it, and the chrome 20 inch wheels and has always tolerated my car crazy acts.. She hates the white car, (says its plain and ugly) and had never driven in it! She like the Yellow Ventura II, we bought last Sept and has never driven in it ( or even sat in it) ?? I am going to Car Show tomorrow by myself, and don't look forward to sitting alone for 6 hours... I have a friend with a 4 speed Monte, and same thing, She hates car, and all associated activities.. The local car guys all sit in a circle with their mates, and never get up, and look at a car(or say welcome) They jump up for door prizes and 50/50 and than all rush to Tim Hortons Is this the way of cars these days??? just wondering
my wife, thank god for me bein blessed!!! is as much if not more of a "car guy" than myself, lol.
if ya look in my intro at the pics, you can probably make out a jeep tub behind the pathfinder, sittin on some scaffolding. that is hers. just another project we work on together.
we both have lifted jeeps now, that one will be her "new one" whenever it gets done. she already put it point blank that her "old car" will be a truck, after we're done the poncho.
it's just as hazardous taking her into p.a. or c.t. or home depot as any guy walkin into a tool dept.
like i said, i've been blessed with the best!!! happy birthday to ya doll, today for that matter!!!
I go to car shows with my budy, both our wives never go. When I talk to here about my Beaumont she pretends to be interested but I get the "sorry dear what did you say" after awile of me apparently talking to myself

Connie puts up with my obsession but doesn't really share the passion. She'll go to a show. She really likes the 1920's cars and I think If I ever found a car from that era she wouldn't complain if I bought it. I have been told under no uncertain terms that if I ever buy a wagon she'll never ride in it.
My wife & kids razz me because they say we don't drive them enough. I'm accused of only wanting to work on them. Anyway, the 68 Caprice has never had a long drive in the 4 yrs we've owned it, so we're heading out next weekend to a big car show half way across the province. Looking forward to stretching the 396 - the car has had less than 500 miles added to it in the last 12 years. I'll post pics of any Pontiacs I see.
My wife is part of the Suburu cult and loves those cars. As for the Beaumonts she will go to any show I ask her to go to and she allows my sickness for Beaumonts to continue. She doesn't want to work on my Beaumonts but I asked if she own a second sporty Suburu she said yes. I think she's a car girl in my opinion.
My wife isn't a car person. She puts up with my hobby and having parts in the house and on the deck etc. Hates going to car shows, because I talk about cars(dah what else do you do at a car show) All I can say is she's a great wife and mom and puts up with all of my car stuff and dragging her to a show here and there. Where coming up to ten years in a couple of months. She does love the fact that I can fix my own cars and fix things around the house.

Exactly!!! If we can fix cars, we can fix other stuff. That's how we justify the tools and stuff.
my wife loves cars almost as much as i do. Shes more into the volkswagons (she really wants a karman ghia, she had a 73 bug) and she loves the 59. Not a fan of the musclecar era but she does come to most shows and she knows her "car lingo" when she talks about cars. Now if she would like guitars as much as i do we might have more of those too!!
My wife tolerates my car hobby. She doesn't mind the car now that i've cleaned up the interior, she says it smelled before. She doesn't like how low the car sits though. Anyway we've driven around more this year than we have the past couple years in it. I can understand her problem with it now as she gets bigger with the baby that effort to sit in a low car becomes more difficult. And i always open and close the door for her...them big barn doors on these cars weigh a ton to those who don't use them much. As for the car show end of things Carl i know what you're talking about. My wife has gone to some shows but i go more often to them by myself. Really though i get bored with them fast. If you go to your local one you see all the same cars. Also, all those regulars form a big circle with their lawnchairs in the middle of the show taking up a couple prime spots so if you get there in the middle of the show you're forced to park way off in the distance. And they don't talk to anyone else. I've had a couple people come up and chat so that's been nice. One older lady here has an 84 Trans Am, it's nice to see another car like mine there. I think with the show crowd there's still hesitation to accept these cars. It might not be show quality but i'm still wanting to show her off. Of course i enjoy driving it more than having it sit in the shows!
My wife like's most of the cars that I've had. She hates the 87 that I have now and wants me to get rid of it and keep the 80 z-28. I try to explain the rareity factor to her (It's 1 of 22 built in 87) dosen't care, just hates the look of it. She loved the gto convert, the grand national, hated the corvetts, but never says no. She loves to go to the track and watch the races, so I can't really complain.
Hmmm, I'm not sure where I'd put Chris on the scale of 0 = "hates it" to 10 = "loves it" - I'd say maybe 7 ?
She never complains about my desire to work on the car, in fact she supports me in ways like being the first to suggest that we get a shed for the little boat so I could have the garage all to myself for the car. However I am careful to not spend much time in the garage when she is home.
We do go to car events and she does seem to like that, never complains about walking around or me taking time to look at cars or talk to others. However we only go once or twice a year, so maybe it's like me going with her to a bead show - show support as long as it does not take too much time. Her main comments about cars is that some of them are "pretty" which I guess is about like me looking at her beads (she makes jewelry as a hobby).
She will help me in the garage when I need a second pair of hands as long as she doesn't get dirty. She did come to the track with me when I was racing and never complained but mostly tended to snacks and lunch and beverages and entertaining any guests.
She does feign interest when I babble on about some car project (currently rebuilding the carb) but I don't mind that she really doesn't have an interest. She does like a nice car (especially red convertibles, she has had 3 of them now). She is genuinely looking forward to some day riding in the 56.
It's not a car thing, but she does really like boating and so she gets bonus points for that, we lived on our 41' double cabin (NOT a sailboat, a REAL boat) for three years and she really enjoyed that, how many women would actually live on a boat?
So not a 10, but well within reason, I think.

Mine more or less puts up with it. She likes my 39 Buick but I remember a little incident we had when I brought home the 66 Grande P. She said it was ostentatious and ugly and she would have to wear a bag over her head if she rode in it. I was kind of hurt, so I said (maybe too quickly) "Well, why don't you anyway?"
My wife Carol enjoys the cars. She's not too cool with the 2+2 as she says its a big tank but really wants a 1st generation Camaro Red with Black stripes. Maybe one day ! When she met me she had to get used to the lawnchair watching me work on my Chevies....
My woman is a Jeep lover. Can't stand Trans Am, Corvette or Camaro's. She won't ride in any of the sports cars I've had. Prefers trucks, GM, Dodge or Jeep. No Fords! Nor will she go to cruise-ins,swap meets or drag races. At least she let's me indulge in my junk or better yet knows that I'm addicted to cars and is OK with that. So I have to get her a TJ to drive next.
