Spare Tire delete

I may be lnosing it, but was there a thread here last week w/ a car that had the factory spare tire delete option?.

It may very well've been on one of the other sites I hang out at but it was a documented car and I meant to go back and note the RPO as I don't think it was N84 but now I can't recall where it was and brainless.gif???

Thanks fellas...when you get old yourself you'll understand!.

I remember that too.  I made a comment about it, but not too many of you guys caught it.

Now that is one wierd/cool option!

THAT'S THE FIRST I'VE EVER SEEN OR HEARD OF IT. I WONDER IF YOU GOT A CREDIT FOR IT?

I'm sure there was a credit of some sort involved.

In 64 my car had a "seat belt delete" it was a 16 dollar credit.

I can see it now:  " i'll smash my head through the windshield before i fork over another 16 whole dollars for a seat belt"  hilarious.

Carl, I can't quite read the sign in that picture. Can you enlarge that photo.....?

Certainly an oddball. I am going to look through some of my old document sheets where they list a whole page of serial numbers to see if it shows on any other cars.

I just realized this is a custom 6cyl 4dr sedan.
Fred, we need to add the production figures for this one.

I've always wondered about this model number as i have a 6cyl custom 4dr sedan too.

now i know,  lower than expected.  I would have guessed around 2000 units.

Never heard of that before. Sounds like a way to save a few bucks on a new car. Maybe the guy had autoclub service and figured if he had a flat he'd just call them?

My 56 has "spare tire delete" but that's because I plan on putting the battery in the well (unless I measured wrong, a group 27 will fit in there perfectly) to unclutter the engine compartment and get better weight distribution  smile.gif

Damn, that is low, and i've been driving one for 12 winters straight.

I guess when it rusts out, i'll have to switch to a 67 shelby mustang winter beater, they are not as rare as a beaumont!

I will get more info on the 4 door..He thinks its a Pontiac!   It was sold in Goderich  (12miles from here) and has been here in Clinton forever.... I asked him to join site, but he can only type with one finger, and he accidently cut it off.....

Carl, you used to show nice BIG picture, where you could actually read what is on the sign, and now it is a wee teeny picture that old eyes cannot decipher, please bring back the BIG one!

Also, an extensive internet search on GM option codes from that era does not show any P32, there are other P codes related to tires/wheels, but no P32 ...

they show things like this:
P06 Wheel trim rings
P12 14X6 JK wheel
P19 Spare tire lock
P42 15X6 J wheel
P48 15X6 L wheel

of course as we all know the internet is NOT the absolute final source of reliable information on any topic ...

but it would really be interesting if some real, written source data could be shown (such as the actual window sticker) (hey, I used to carefully take them off my side window and save them) to show this ...
