One of our local Cdn Tires today started a new annual car show which they hope to have each year at this time. As this was the first year and the forecast was calling for thunderstorms all day, I wasn't expecting much but since I had some time to spare and the rain had held off, I decided to check it out. Well it just goes to show you just never know what will show up. Check out those pics!
1965 Chevelle 300 convertible! Manual roof! Canadian only, one of 314 built! One of 3 known to survive and both those other cars are projects, one in BC and one in California. He acquired the car 4 years ago and just finished it a month ago. Still some small stuff to do, but what car is ever truly finished? Talked to the owner and gave him a CP card, hope he will soon be on here because we love Canadian only cars! Turns out he is now living just blocks from where I grew up and I now live just blocks from where he grew up - small world! Moral of the story, don't write off those small local car shows, you just never know what you may see.

I have been car-spotting since the late 1960s. I have seen a number of 66 & 67 Chevelle 300 convertibles (and only a few of the corresponding Beaumonts). I knew that Chevy offered a 1965 Chevelle 300 convertible in Canada, but up to this point I cannot ever recall having seen or heard of one.
I have only ever seen 1 1965 base Beaumont convertible, derelict, back in 1979 along Highway 6 north at Freelton, Ontario. I have never seen it since the house it was at was bulldozed around 79/80.

I was glad to see all of the interest my Chevelle generated at this tiny event. It has been a long road restoring this car, and so the enthusiasm that those in the know have been showing has gone a long way to justify the hard work. It's funny to think that the original plan with this restoration was to make the car into either an SS clone or a Z-16 clone (the 1-of-1). But when I decoded the vin and realized what it was, that was the end of that discussion...
To expand on what Hillar said about it being one of three known cars: it is one of three cars I know of through my extensive internet searches and conversations with others. The car that is now in California is (as far as I can tell) the one that used to reside in Victoria, B.C. It is a deep cherry red. The other one I know of is in Alberta and is in need of loads of restoration (it was recently offered for sale on Craigslist). I'm not sure if those are the two that the above posters are referring to. If they are referring to different cars, then mine is one of 4 or 5 I now know about. If anyone else knows of any others, I'd love to hear about it, and perhaps speak with the owners...
