I had a feeling David forgot to add a reserve. I'm sure we'll see it back as a reserve auction. Dave, let us know if you relist.

It wasn't that I forgot to add the reserve it was my first time using ebay and didn't quiite understand everything and by the time a friend of mine warned me that I would have to commit to whatever the highest bid was I had already gotten one bid so I couldn't edit the listing to put a reserve in after the fact.

I don't think I am going to re-list the car because enough of the right people have enquired about it either through the ebay listing or here on the CP site so I am just going to choose an offer from amongst this select few and thank goodness they are all from Canada as I want the car to stay in the country that it was "born" in.

The car needs to be sold by Wednesday next week so there is still time to contact me for those who e-mailed or called me already but have not followed up yet.

Thank you for all the posts and encouraging comments and I will keep you up to date on the sale.

I agree totally about these cars staying in Canada. So Canadian's can look and say is it for real, YES Canadian only. It means more to us here. It seems like a nice rare car. If I didn't have a fleet of my own I would definitely chase you for it.

my two cents to rattle some chains-if you want it to sell in Canada only, Why is it listed on EBAYMOTORS.com and not EBAY.CA ? Why is there no limitation as to who can bid ?

lets face it the Americans drive the market, had they not started selling large in the U.S. they wouldn't bring it here.

I used to have Corvettes and all those guys used to belly ache when someone would sell "our" cars south of the border. Face it we want the dollars-when the exchange rate was 50% we wanted it no matter if it sold here or there.

I often see cars advertised "would like it to stay in Canada" but they still want a world market price.

like I said rattle some chains. Its going to sell wherever to the highest bidder-

Bill has three SD ragtops-he's probably the reason Americans are paying attention, and the Muscle Car review article with the blue rag-I'm Canadian born and raised but if you want the dollars its going to come from the U.S.

Ok Ken, you wanted to put your two cents in but you didn't check your info correctly, I listed the car on e-bay.ca NOT .com. I told everyone before that I want the car to stay in Canada. I don't want to even sell the car but due to the current economy sucking you know what I have financial responsibilities like 2 mortgages and car payments to take care of that are suffering, so unless I am ready to give up my residence and move into the convertible I have to resort to selling it.

Well I guess I put my 3 cents in now so everyone have a good night.

The link here brings it up on EBAYMOTORS.com, maybe its a carry over from EBAY.CA Anyway, bottom line the whole classic car marketplace is based on the North American market-doesn't matter if it sells in Canada or the U.S. it is posted to bring the "North American market value" there are no limitations to U.S. bidders on your auction. You can keep it in Canada if you like-but the dollars are coming from the U.S. , the large dollar market value would not be there without the Americans buying so its really not fair to suggest we would shut them out-doesn't matter if its clothes, oil, or cars we want money for them no matter where they go-

Ken with the dollar almost at par again there really isn't any advantage right now for the Americans to buy anything from Canada, it is great for the dollar but it sucks for export.

yes, David you are correct about the current exchange at just 10% or so, but in the days of 50-60% you and me and many others would have taken $40,000 U.S. before $40,000 CDN or wanted $60,000 CDN to keep it in Canada-The Canadian market has not yet adjusted to the closer to par dollar-it took quite a while to get to the premium and will take longer to go back.

bottom line you'll sell it to an American if he pays you.

not trying to be rude just factual

Ken

Ken I know you are not trying to be rude, I respect everything that you say, you got me  into Beaumonts.

With only 10% percent extra I would honestly take the 40 Cdn over the 40 US to keep the car in Canada, it is only $4,000.00

Well then you are a man of Canadian pride-you know I love Beaumonts and like to see them around rather than hiding in garages-but I'd take 10% to send it south-most business operate to attempt to net 10%

hey you didn't comment on 50% if the exchange were that ?

Just another L-79 or big block going over the border, never to be seen again? I personally have never seen a 67 SD rag in person, I guess I never will. Think about that!

how many L79's or big blocks came here from there ?

Well David seems very strong on selling the car in Canada to stay in Canada and potentially give up as much as $4000 so come on Canadians step up to the plate !

Sorry, best I can do is offer to show you my well worn "66" SD rag, with only a small block.  (Numbers matching though!)  If you're ever in Edmonton, send me a note...

Ken the 50% is a different story but I would be picky and only sell it to someone like BeaumontBill who is more than worthy and in my opinion is a honorary Canadian for his dedication and preservation of our rare Beaumonts and you know he could have as many Chevelles as he wanted but he chose our Beaumonts
