Old thread but a bit of a continuation...

I thought I recalled seeing "Acadian 327" valve cover decals. Seemed to me it was a car on this site but a search yielded nothing but the ones on that niftly 2 door post L79 car and those have the horsepower right on top. I am looking for Acadian 327 on top and 300 horsepower for down below that, sort of on the side of the cover.

Anyone?

Acadian 327 decal.jpeg

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I need the 300 horse version of this decal.

I recall that.  I think it was from a Calgary restoration of a red one.  There was talk about how the decals could have been sourced somewhere else...

Here's one bookmark I have re decals:

I had the ones for my 65 made (calgary) based on the old one that was on the valve cover and in poor shape. I just went to a printing company with a new pontiac one, and showed them the old one so they could do the Swaperoo on the computer and then print them off.. it was the same cost for them to make me over 20 sets as it was to make one set.. so..

Kelly, what does it say above the "327"? I can't quite make it out.

hey Carl.. sorry for the poopy photo.. I'm in vancouver still and the other photos of the stickers alone are there.
It says
ACADIAN
327
ACADIAN

Now the engine I got for my Hard top was from a 65 SD (300 hp 327) I kept the sticker intact on the original "dimple" cover and took photos of it as well. Then purchased the PONTIAC 327 PONTIAC stickers as a sample for the printers..
they did up the artwork and got my approval.. the Font was a bit of a mystery, but they did a great job on it.

I did 20 or 22 sets of 283 and 20 or 22 sets of 327..

the sticker on my cover could be that it's from a Canso. Anything could have happened in 40 plus years. But I liked it.. and it seems to work

So you got them made up with Acadian top and bottom, or Pontiac top and bottom? I am not quite clear on that.

If they say Acadian top and bottom and you have 20 sets, can we talk???wink

Did you do the 300 horsepower as well, or just buy them from one of the repro places?

Off to bed but I will talk to you more about this, thanks.

they say ACADIAN top and bottom. I know that Joe and Suzie have the L79 type with ACADIAN and then the 350HP.

I think I've got a spare set kicking around. I sold most of them to cover the cost of printing.

year and a half later biggrin

Did we ever decide if any cars came with both decals on valve covers and air cleaner??

the car also had the red econo flame air cleaner decal but it was to far gone to scan so i dont have that one , this car had the valve covers with the rectangle area in the middle for the decal and the long indent along the top, painted orange tins
this car was bone stock

Is this a 66 with both??

An old thread that has come to life!
I was also trying to pin down the American Chevelle guys with the same '66 VCD and ACD question re the 327. The response seemed to be inconclusive...

Since the cars are so old confuse  it ends up being a matter of choice..smile

I like having both...  my Bowmint  has Pontiac on the valve covers

My thought re the '66 327...
-With the indented VC's that have a flat rectangular area, it is rather evident that they had VCD's.
-Cheetah427 remembers, and had a copy of the '66 327 VCD's (which are also consistent to the appearance of Jack B's '66 283 VCD's)
As a result, unless other evidence becomes available, I'm with Cheetah427 in believing his recolection of the VCD's (shown earlier in this thread) is correct.

Re the ACD's...
-I would question as to whether or not GM would use decals on both the VC and AC, as these were somewhat of an entry level car?
-If they did use both, wouldn't the decals at least look the same? (Either in font or colors?)

As a result, I'm thinking the '66 327 had VCD's and no ACD, while the '67 had an ACD and no VCD's. (Which to your point Carl, sounds like it "ends up being a matter of choice".)

I would agree that 1966 was the last year for valve cover decals

in 1967 the cars got aircleaner decals for the first time,  no valve cover ones

By the way,  there is no repro(to my knowledge) of the 1967 econoflame 283 air cleaner decal

Anyone know of where to get it?

I'd bet that Rick P can get you them.  His email is

rpawlas@telus.net

PS  We should add that decal to the library.
