I was reading an article in Hemming's Classic Cars today about a fellow in the states who restored a 67 Caprice and painted it in lacquer. I was under the impression that it was impossible to get automotive lacquer anymore. Is there a source in Canada for lacquer? If there is I could easily do a couple of spot repairs on my car which would add a few more years to the cars finish.
theres a place here that I bought a couple gallons of black from-they still have more I believe. There a place on Pine Street N.F. N.Y that you can get it, everyone tells me its not cheap yet the gallon of black was $120 ! beat that
If you can still get paint mixed up in "Dupont centari" it will match the factory canadian Enamel perfect. PPG delstar or concept is good too.
Most people dont realize that canada used Enamel in the 60's. NOT the "magic mirror acrylic laquer" like in the states.
I sure wouldnt paint a car with laquer even if it is correct, that stuff is teribble to work with, hair cracks bad, and is impossible to sand, it stays gummy forever. But it does smell nice!

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
My car was painted in lacquer in 1978. The spots Ken touched up, although better than what it looked like prior still can be seen quite clearly (except in bright sunlight). If I do a spot repair in laquer as long as the colour matches it should blend nicely. Then, at some point when the money tree falls from the sky I'll strip the car and have it painted using modern materials.
