Wicked Storm

Last night we got hammered with one of the worse storms I've seen in a long time. The lightening was intense. Winds reportedly were 110kph. My back yard is a mess- tree branches everywhere from my neighbors poplar (which we advised her to cut down) One branch wiped out the screened in canvas porch we have on our deck as well as smashed a planter. Could have been worse. Power went out at 10 and is still off. Not supposed to be back on until at least 6. I had about 2 hrs sleep. I went to bed at 11 and woke up at 1 with the power still off. I fired up the generator so at least the fridge and freezer (with a fresh meat order in it) are ok.

Pics to follow when I can access my laptop!

I wish we had. We had two small puddles form away from the wall in the floor. I've got a guy coming around tomorrow morning to look at it. From what i've been checking into we have to have a sump pump installed...CHA CHING goes the money! It's all happening it seems this summer. I guess better now than after the baby comes.

Seems to be the east side of Ingersoll that got hit the worst and this is a small town. I live on the west side and had a few leaves and twigs down. I am very thankful for that as I left my Daytona out that night as I was mudding up some fender holes in Jill's Jeep TJ in the garage. I would have been a very PO'd guy if the Charger got damaged because of a $2500 Jeep.

Just had a guy come look at the basement. He's telling me it's the weeping tile outside. That means digging up the front garden and he's also saying damage to our front porch step(concrete) and walk way. His opinion that work will be all that's needed, but you never know. I'm getting another opinion on Saturday then we'll go from there. I'm looking forward to getting this all done. It has NOT been a good summer! However, we get this all taken care of and our reward is the birth of our first baby, can't help but smile thinking about that.

Would insurance cover this Randy?

We Micky-Mouse fixed our gazebo. It should last the rest of the summer and then we'll get a new one next year..

Sorry about your luck randy, shouldn't be to tough to put in a sump pump, just a hole, a liner and drop in the pump, run the hose out and voila! Have a C.P open house and I'm sure you could get 'er done! Earl, tell me the Daytona isn't a 69!!!

insurance will cover the clean up-sometimes the damage but never the cause.

Randy-just need cleaner evetroughs and extensions on your downspouts-this was severe rain. Weeping tile often doesn't work as well as needed in these situations-just try to keep the water away from the foundation and you'll be fine. yes the correct way is to dig all around-new pipe-lotsa stone.
