I try not to be too quick to call people idiots but whoever the genius is that figured out this program is an absolute idiot. And that's being kind to him/her.......

Just read a story about this in HOT ROD magazine, seems like a dumba$$ program to me. All those good parts are just being thrown away!!! I am sure some ppl could use them to fix up their rides...... Wait isn't that called recycling??????????

I'd be ok with it if they were rotten old Plymouth Acclaims or mini vans but a truck like that looks to me like it still has life in it. Did you see them seize the engine? What a waste. Doesn't look like they properly evacuated the AC system either...
It's a stupid thing to do. There is a guy on another site that is gonna crush a beautiful 91 Z-28 with a 6 speed, lt1 on the bottle because no one is buying at the moment! It's mint! Did a 4 th gen interior swap as well! Says they will give him 4500$ to crush it. What a waste, I told him car guys don't crush they restore. Just want's it gone and dosen't want to wait for a buyer. Sickening!
Now that just makes me sick! I backed my 93 Typhoon into my garage and scraped the passanger side rear corner cladding and that peice was over $800 alone to replace. They shouold at lease strip the parts before killing it.
BRUTAL!!! Just watched a new car commercial on tv for an import of some kind, and they still advertize UP to 32 mpg..... 32 mpg??? I have a '91 Sunbird GT and a '96 Cutlass Supreme both with a 3.1 v6 mill that gets that all day long.... No matter where I have my foot into it.......
I would love to have a Syclone.. I love my first gen S-10 pick-ups........... This one is off of that site as well..........Shame, shame, shame..................

Maybe 32 mpg is good today BUT this is where we are going. I'm afraid there is no sense in resisting it. I think 230 mpg is one heck of an accomplishement. We always heard these rumours that the technology was there but the Big 3 and Oil companies kept it hush hush. That's why we are lucky to have our classics to enjoy, we just have to do everything we can to preserve our rights to enjoy them, like lobbying in a credible way against these stupid Government programs.

Good news on the Syclone! They have saved it from the crusher. It looks like one of the sales guys from the dealer it was traded in at will be able to take it for the $4500 as the paper work had not gone through.

Glad to see someone at that dealer still has a brain to think with!!!! And if he was willing to flip it, he could triple his money.
a farce-just like any other "program" they come out with.
make the purchase either tax free or tax deductable so you really do get the "tax" benefit
-relecs would take care of themselves/good ones would be saved
Is anyone aware that to produce one new automobile we pollute the equivalent of 19 years of use of an automobile ? that said anything scrapped newer than 1991 model year is not saving the enviroment any pollution what so ever.
We had an ad on air here about 99 Kia's being taken in on this clunker crap. Now it's a Kia so i'm not heartbroken about that at all. But still, 10 yr old cars...really? Again it is a Kia. But just the same what if other auto manufacturers decide to pull this crap...if they haven't already!

they should open the door on the back of the cargo carrier and dump them Kias in the Ocean before they even arrive
Yeah it's pretty bad when the local Kia dealer is taking in 10 year old cars for the clunker trade in. Definately says nothing good about the quality of what you sell.
