This has to be the plainest interior I've ever seen. Radio and Heater delete!
Cool!

Nice car. The emblem appears to be in the wrong place and is missing the crossed flags......but as we all know......anything was possible way back then.

I agree a nice car. But I don't think GM would have made an exception with the emblem placement. I have never seen a Chevy of this vintage with only the engine size emblem & they always have the crossed flags below and always behind the front wheel.. info on the 4 spd imight be correct tho'. But , you know every one seems to know more about someone elses car

have a nice day; Dale

Maybe 4 spd only with the larger 425 horse 409 but you could still get a powerglide with the 400 and 340 horse cars.

Nice car. Emblem is clearly not correct - belongs behind the rear wheel an should have the flags too. I like any 409, and any white on red color scheme.

love it !!.....want it !! ......but that car does't deserve temporary battery cable ends........I can't understand why a person would fix a car that nice , then cheap -out on battery cables & at least an oem-like battery cover.......makes me think it could be a spray-bomb overhaul....hummmm???....but its not mine

Didn't all the 409 cars have the tach on the dash?

 Concerning that and 409-powered cars:

In 1962 & 1963 you could get any 409 with a 3-speed Saginaw (non-syncro 2.47:1 low). That means any 409 (except the Z-11), be it a 340, 380, 400, 409 or 425 horse.  After replacing broken transmissions under warranty, GM stopped putting a medium duty 3-speed behind any 409 in 1964. Curiously you could get a 3-speed manual again in 1965, but it was a new, stronger Borg Warner T-16 (really a 3-speed version of the old T-10). this was even offered in Canada on Canadian Pontiacs in 1965 optionally behind 327s or by mandate behind  409s.

The 4-speeds were initially cast iron Borg Warner T10s but switched to the new aluminum case Muncie very late in the 1963 run.

The Powerglide was offered only behind the relatively mild 340 horse 409 of 63 - 65. It was built strong enough for the job.

I believe I have one of these cast cased Warners here. It was converted to what we called a "crash box"... More for drags as it didn't have any syncros..........

I think the factory tach was optional, never seen a "knee knocker" tack from factory on these models??? Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time or the last?????

 I hear you buddy.

Too many options are on new cars these days to standardize the production process.

Back to this Biscayne: - are there any 409 Strato Chiefs or Laurentians on the site that came from the factory that way?

I HAVE HEARD OF 2 409 '64 PONTIAC 2DR SEDANS HERE IN ALBERTA. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM, I CAN'T SAY FOR SURE THEY EXIST, OR IF THEY DO, IF THEY ARE REAL FROM THE FACTORY. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT 5 '64 PONTIAC 2DR SEDANS WERE BUILT WITH THE 409. I HAVE NOTHING TO PROVE OR DISPROVE THOSE NUMBERS, ALL JUST WORD OF MOUTH. WOULD LOVE TO FIND ONE...BUT WILL PROBALY JUST HAVE TO BUILD ONE.hmm
