Marine 454 Chevs

Is there any difference between a Marine application Mercruiser 454 to a normal 454 and what problems should I expect when installing it in a car.

and you'll need a whistle, floating rope, and a flashlight... nav lights for evening cruising...

aeriously though, you should look into a few things, was it run in salt water? the block could be rusted out... some were reverse rotation (when used with two engines) so camshaft, timing gears, distributor would have to be replaced, you'll also want to check if the block is a tall deck or not, this isnt a biggie, but like others who use truck blocks i think the intake, distributors and maybe header fit could be an issue...

i know someone that got a warranty replaced 502/502 and put it in his '56...

As far as I know it shouldn't make any difference when installed in a car but I know from working in the Chevrolet Engine Plant many years ago, we installed brass soft plugs in the Marine blocks.

These are twin 468 motors so I'm wondering if they counter rotate. Balanced and blue printed for 3500.00 each. What do you think?
