I thought I'd do something different this time and feature two cars. Eric Deklerck (a.k.a Slinky) owns the sweet red 69 Beaumont which he restored as a tribute to the 69 SD396 he bought new that met it's demise only two years new on the 401 as a result of a fire.
His tribute is the result of three years hard labor where he replaced the rear 1/4's, installed new GM front fenders, a one piece floor pan and a new BB hood.
Power comes from a healthy 396 backed by a gas saving 700R4 transmission.
The interior was in excellent shape and was left alone.
Eric is not afraid to drive the Beaumont and has put 12000 miles on the car since it was restored. If I remember correctly Eric mentioned a cross country trip is in the works.
Eric actually purchased the 68 Beaumont feature car to rob it of it's BB hood. Instead he sold the car to his friend Frank Verberne who did an extensive restoration to bring the car up to it's current condition. This one also got new rear 1/4 panels (including inner fenders), new front fenders, bumpers, as well as a new interior. This one has a healthy 350 under the hood backed by a 200R4 transmission.
With Beaumonts getting harder and harder to find, these two great examples prove that with some hard work and patience a diamond in the rough can be given new life and provide years of enjoyment.
