Short summer

Wow, Labour day is almost over, and summer hasn't even seemed like its been around this year due to all the rain & cool weather. Hardly even took the boat out of the marina this year. The picture is from Sat. afternoon this weekend. It was the best day of the whole season.boat,60 ponch 004.jpg
Drove my 79 Trans Am once, my 89 GTA once, and my Porsche once. Definetly time to rethink those cars! How's everyone else in S-W Ontario feel about this years bad weather? Did you get any use out of your old cars? Or like me and just couldn't get into it?

We spent the first nite up at the trailer in Sherkston beach last nite, never put the Jet Skis in the water this year , got rained out of a number of car shows and cruise nites. Insurance is due on the cars September 20th and I think I will put them to bed for the season.

We just got home from our 9th trip to the cottage this year. 8 of those trips, the weather was pretty much ca-ca. We spent more time in the water this long weekend than we did in total the other 8 trips, and I'm not kidding. This was our first stay at our place this year that we did not have to light the fire in the stove to keep it warm enough in there at night.

We pretty much closed the place up for this year. I have to make one more trip back for a few errands, otherwise done for this year. I can't wait to flip the calendar to January 2010 and wave bye-bye to one of the coolest summers I can remember.

I never went to a single cruise night or car show so far this year........

I didn't get out to as many shows as I would have liked. The weather or having to work put a damper on that. This weekend was by far one of the best this year. My wife and I drove to nearby Pt. Burwell and had dinner. The beach was busy and there were quite a few old cars. We stopped at a yard sale on a farm and I spotted a 70 Olds 442 W30 sitting in the barn. Not for sale. I also spotted a super clean 69 Olds Cutlass W31 with a 4 speed parked near the beach.

Last year, I got stuck, with my Fall chores, not done...disbelief It snowed in Nov, (while I was in N.B. visiting)   and never stopped..disbelief  We are going with trailer, to KOA (Port Huron Mi.) this weekend..biggrin  When I get back, the trailer is going to be winterized, and put in a Driving Shed with cover on it, and the cars are getting oil changed, and put in storage...    28 weeks of Fireplace, couch and Computer, before I have to go out side again...  lol

I find the fall one of the best seasons around here for touring, so I hope we have a good one.
It's always more comfortable when you have a oldie without A/C.

Short summer or poor weather I don't know I just didn't have time this year for much old car time. I think I made it to 4 cruise nights, two at Thornhill opening and closing and two at Route 66. What I did do that was more fun was do excursions, one to Hamilton for HMP/GTO Ontario all Pontiac Day, That was fun, Hillar and Darryl came too, Mary and I went to ARCADIAN'S place near Owen Sound and met some fellow CP members in person then there was Autofest in Oshawa, again met some fellow CPers and had a blast. Also took in Midland and Wasaga Beach cruises too. I think we are good in southern Ontario until end of October for cruising. Cars run great in the cooler air!

Route 66 and Queensway cruises go to the end of Sept., you should make it out for one Queensway show this year, they seem to be getting bigger and bigger each week.
September has been the nicest month of the summer so far, and has been the last two years as well.  I find myself stretching the cruising season longer and longer each year now, I don't usually put the Camaro away until Dec. 1st.  As Ray said, the hi po engines run much better in the cooler air, but some times the cold pavement can be a little squirrely.evileye

I was forced to cruise right by Mapleview tonight-I was rushing to drop a bottle at the doctor's that did the great job with my Dad last week-then dropped that wheel to Garry, by the time I could head back the kids were calling me on the phone         (7:00) priorities said go see the kids.
