Smokey & the Bandit

Watched it again last night with the kids. Still a great movie. Makes me laugh 30 + years later. You gotta love Jackie! floating.gif

I eventually got in front of the TV and saw that it was on, but almost over. Oh well, just have to pop the DVD in whenever. If my wife hadn't been watching TV with me i may have left it there to watch Road Warrior, i've never seen it.

I love Road Warrior. It's not for everybody though, kind of like Phantom of the Paradise, one of my all time favourites.

Back to the topic at hand, as you say, tough to beat Jackie!!!

Smokey is all fun. Road Warrior is a bit grim but hard to stop watching - probably have seen it 5 times. My favorites involving cars at high speed are 1. Bullitt; 2. The Getaway (original, not the remake); and 3. The French Connection, in which Gene Hackman reputedly did a fair bit of the driving.

And who could forget "Two Lane Blacktop"? They used 3 cars in the movie and the main one went on to become Falfa's car in "American Graffiti"; another one was stripped right out in a junkyard and the last one that they used for interior shots for the movie is still equipped with all the camera mounts and Jay Leno owns it. Of course "American Graffiti" is one of this guy's
all-time favourite movies.

Another vote for Two Lane Blacktop - it can be watched at many different levels, far ahead of its time, very cerebral and existential.

I should have added that Two Lane Blacktop and Vanishing Point would make the ultimate double feature.  It would be far out, man!wink

I remember reading somewhere that one of the cars was found in Canada..
Was it perhaps the camera car?.

In june every year we go to Modesto junior collage for graffiti night. They usually have one of the not as big stars show up from time to time. Been a long time since i have seen it but it is cool that the Jedi Night is from my turf.

Yes, Gone in 60 seconds was good for the car scenes, but man I had a hard time watching all those 60s & early 70s cars, including a bunch of big block cop cars, get beat up.
