The Police Dog Services facility is just a three minutes from our place in the Don Valley of Toronto. Today was their 20th anniversary so they welcomed the public. What a great facility and the dogs were awesome, they had nice vehicles too....
that 57 is cool, 2drs kinda useless for patrol but they used them there is NFB of Canada film showing 51 Divison around 57/58 and thet are crammin the bad guys into the back of those 2 door cars and they go in the "hard way"
The guys said the diplomats with those high roof lights (wind drag) couldnt get out of there own way, i suppose next to a 440 big block polara, most cars would seem like muts

Well a 2dr post car was the absolute cheapest car you could purchase, that's why they used them. I still remember 68 Biscaynes in 2dr. sedan bodies being used.
I also recall listening to my scanner when I was a teen one night and they were chasing somebody up the Don Valley parkway, I remember the constable saying this Diplomat is a pig I can barely make 90.
My cousin worked for the Delaware State Police back in the early sevenities and they drove 440 Fury's, he said they could top 140 MPH, no problem.
My dad had a Dodge Diplomat, 85 I think. Medium grey, full wheelcovers, Identical body to this Metro car. 318, spec'd HD. One of the better cars he had. Company car for Dofasco Steel in Hamilton. Quick, good handling and tough little car. Where have they all gone? I rarely see one.

The Diplomats used to be everywhere. London Police had Studebakers in the mid 1960's and Biscaynes in the late 60's early 70's. They switched to Impala's until about 1983 and then Crown Vics.
