The ones Pontiac used for small blocks look just like the red Chevrolet Turbo-Fire decal except is reads Astro-Flame or Flash. Last time I saw one was on a Full sized 68 and it was a 327 Astro-Flame. I maybe able to hook you up with the one below, I think I have one or two left.

That decal looks realy good on that style of air cleaner. If you can spare I would be interested in buying it of you. But do not leave your self short. You may need if that one gets damaged.

I'll look tonight Ian then PM you. A few guys on Board are using them, even that perfect 1970 Acadian SS that was feature car has one. I recommend trimming the HP rating off if your engine is rated differently. I just made it as 250 HP because that was by far the most common rating.

Here's how it looked when Matt installed it on the Acadian SS.

Here is the actual decal as on my '69 Laurentian air cleaner lid. It is also the same on my '70 Parisienne 2bbl 350 and my 4bbl 350 in my '70 2+2.

I like the gold ones too, might have to spring for that. I believe they are 1970 issue. They came as 350, 400 and 454.

Yes, the gold decals were 1970, 1969 still used the arrowhead crests with the displacement on top.

Would be great if we had pics of air cleaner decals in the Library per year. Would be good referance for those guys who want to get there ride looking correct.  Original surviving decals like 67poncho posted is good stuff.

Is it true the 67 big CP's only had valve cover decals. Nothing on the breather as I've been told?
My 67 GP has signs of some sort of residue in the size of what could very well have been a decal. Perhaps just a oil change decal?

All it takes is someone to do the research and keep the thread going. This sort of project is usually up my alley, you will find several really good threads in there about engine colour and engine names. I suppose I could add it to the engine name thread as a nice enhancement. I keep the thread closed and don't want anyone posting there, it is for reference. Sometimes it might be open when I am editing it but please no posting.

I am super busy right now at work and with hockey but I can undertake this if everyone helps me by sending me photos of air cleaner and valve cover decals as they find them. PM me when you have one and I'll give you my e-mail. I can start by using the ones already posted on board. Probably start working on it this weekend.  smile

Did they have a mid year change, then?? This is the breather that came with the '69 Laurentian as it was engineless but the breather was in the back seat. Just wondering??

This is a scan from the info package from GM for the 396 325 HP . You can just see the difference from the 67 and 68 Beaumont. The spear is like the decal Ray posted with out the Maple leafs. Only referance to a 69 I have seen.  Its to bad that the Bruce Levey decal site does not show pics of the decals.  To bad its the end of the car show season, we should have been taking pics of valve covers and air cleaners.

Don't worry, it just takes some web searching and a good photoshop program for zooming and cropping. We can build the data base bit by bit. There are plenty of pictures already on Board, just have to dig them up.

No, there was no mid year change.  I think someone just happened to throw a 70 breather lid into the car.wink

My research shows that '69 is the first year that Pontaic used the same engine names in the entire line of cars it sold. There were no "Econo" Jets or "Econo" Flames in 69 and 70. Beaumonts and Acadians were also integrated into sales brochures that included the full line of cars and were titled "Pontiacs for 1970" for example.

Here is a picture (sorry about the flash) of a 300HP breather from a low mile 69 Beaumont. It just says 350 Astro Flash 300 horsepower.

Hey Brad, anyway to take a photo in the daylight and send it to me for the Library thread.

Also as I noted above" My research shows that '69 is the first year that Pontaic used the same engine names in the entire line of cars it sold. There were no "Econo" Jets or "Econo" Flames in 69 and 70. Beaumonts and Acadians were also integrated into sales brochures that included the full line of cars and were titled "Pontiacs for 1970" for example."

BTW my version still looks way better than this one, too much Chevy in this red one, no one would give it a second look imo.
