Did you see the story about the California HWY patrol cop who was killed last week in his Lexus. They played the chilling 911 call from his brother in law who was in the back seat. What I don't get is wouldn't a cop of all people be able to figure out how to stop a car with a supposed gas pedal stuck by a floor mat? Key off? Jam it into park? Something doesn't add up.
My 67 Grande Parisienne wagon was rearended when I was sitting at a red light. The lady claimed to have caught her high heel on the brake pedal but I have wondered if it was the floor mat actually. Whatever, a Chevette doesn't do much damage to a Grande Parisienne wagon with a 2" receiver hitch on it.

The phones rang off the hook today. One customer called to say her 2004 Corolla "did the same thing" (once) when she was backing out of the church parking lot. The "gas pedal stuck" and she ended up on a lawn across the street. Hmm-maybe more like getting her pedals confused as she was backing up? She was picking up her new 2010 Corolla today and wanted to make sure hers was "fixed". I felt like saying "We are in the middle of determining the gender of your new 2010 Corolla so that we can determine if your new Corolla needs to be spayed or neutered"..
I think any floor mat has the potential to get stuck in the pedals, but because 4 people died in a Toyota, Its a Toyota problem????

Killer Toyota floor mats!..Funny I never thought of my tundra's floor mats that way? Carl seems to have a pretty easy fix! At first when I thought this was a recall..What!??!!LOL.. on Toyota..They should consult with Carl. Advisory notice Yah ok, but that would be for every vehicle in the World pretty much. I think for the most of us we all know that what could go wrong will. This might just be one of those cases.

I really think we need a law banning high heels when driving a car. We have laws for on cell phones, smoking in cars, I think this is the next logical step, eh?
We need to invest more in the drivers and teach them how to drive safely rather than spending so much for a car to be safe. If the driver can't operate it safely nothing will work. Floor mats Duh !
