I tried to join the Canadian Poncho Cadillac club!

.......but failed. My max bid was too low on this sweety.  200,000 km, nice car, salvage auction, hailed lightly  and written off.

The irony of it is a guy I know from Winnipeg bid against me and won. He wants to part it out and put the powertrain and interior in his VERY nice 61 Caddy 2 dr ht. Worst part is, he will be storing it at his dad's farm only 4 miles from me, so I will see it sitting around therecry

Hail damage likely, Hillar. That combined with 200 klms on the odo. Not worth fixing thru insurance. Too bad it wasn't here in Ingersoll as I know a Dent Wizard guy who is great at fixing hail damage.

I understand the insurance company's position on these things but the original owner of that car must have a 2 watt bulb for a brain to even attempt to make a claim. So many people out there have no idea what insurance is about or what it is for.

Unfortunately there is a lot of construction going on in my area and my wife's Suburban got a nasty scratch from front wheel to rear door, probably a backhoe or something. Body shop says approx. $2,000 to repair under an insurance scenario. Well guess what that's probably a write off IF I call them. I have a police report etc... but it is my insurance and I have a right to decide if I want to involve them. Oh ya buddy at shop says $400 Cash!!

I would just like to see where this "hail damage" is.  Obviously none on the roof because it is padded and the trunk lid looks perfect - what happened?  Did it just hail on the hood of the car and no where else?confuse

Yes, minor hail damage other than a couple of bigger hits on the trunk and hood.

$1800, LT1, leather, 2.93 rear, no posi.

I may have had it at 2 grand but you have to draw the line somewhere. I may live with a few regrets, especially if he parts it.

I know what you mean Carl, about drawing the line. It does look pretty good in the pic, and being a western car it's probably not rusty? There are a few around here for that kinda money, but rusty. Patience.........biggrin

Pretty clean car underneath, yup. These cars rust around the front inner fenders and rad cradle. That all looked fine.

Like you say, patience. There's more boats in the sea!!!

I think that's supposed to be fish, but boats seemed appropriate.

its very political to scrap the old "gas guzzelers" right now-hail damage and paint could easily cost 3-$4,000-what ever is cheaper for the insurance company-and brand it too ! yet they'll fix a new KIA !
