OK, so we have discussed this before, but I thought it was only in the US.  Tonight I was in Goderich and saw a dealership with a wreck of a van outfront advertising this.  As I thought it was a way to get sales, I figured that they were reselling what they were getting as USED.  So I noticed an early 90's cab and a half Chevy long box that I thought would be a good replacement for my old EXPLORER.  Upon checking the vehicle I noticed it appeared to be DIESEL.  I went to speak to a salesman, and the guy looked at me when I drove up, when I got out turned around and walked away!!!!!!!!!!!  I was shocked, then I was more shocked when I spoke to someone and they said these were being crushed.  It floors me to believe these guys are wasting away useable vehicles......... especially when the guy told me he could have turned that truck over a half dozen times before I got there!!!!  Sorry about all this, I just needed to vent a little.........this really burns my a$$.  Ok enoughs enough I better go.....THANKS for listening/reading.........

I agree, they are giving up to $4300 for these vehicles.  SO there is around 5g's after txs for the Dealership.  AT a time when the auto industry is shakey at best, I think take the money and run.  Or Cash in hand, what the GOV. don't know won't hurt right?????

We drive our Old Pontiacs!! Then we SMILE and WAVE as we drive by :)  It just means a good car for summer, and save the real rusty ones for winter.  Maybe start a business fixing them to drive in winter......wait, then ppl would have to learn how to drive............he he

We got a nice original one owner 1980 Olds 98 (rear wheel drive) in trade as a "clunker". I was not allowed to touch it. Good rubber, posi, full load, etc etc. He got 700 bucks trade in. I was not allowed to buy it or remove anything. Same deal.

We got an 89 Silverado 2wd reg cab long box also. We sold it new. Rusty, still driving. I was planning to buy it for the farm because they delayed the paperwork, allowing him to decide if he wanted to trade it or maybe sell it for more. I bugged the seller about it but too late, his neighbour bought it.

That OLDS sounds like a nice car. I had an '81 did it ever ride nice, and it was a bit of a heap.... It's too bad this is going on. If nothing else at least send it to a wrecking yard so parts can be salvaged.

Exactly. It was a nice old car. Let someone buy it and at least wear it out. If nothing else, at least let it get parted.

This one was crushed. Just plain makes me sad and mad both.

It's popular to be Green, and let's face it public opinion is against a big old V8 car no matter how good  it is. Perception is reality I am afraid and these big old boats are percieved to be bad for the environment. NOT my opinion just saying what's going on out there. no
