My buddy, Dave, and I finished installing a new top on my '64 CS. While we were at it, we removed and repainted the cage. I also installed two new cylinders and an upper and lower hose kit. This is one job that I would not have attempted on my own. Dave has installed over 300 tops and knows how it needs to be done. As you can see, I went with what is called a "feature strip" which fills in the area below the back window just like the '65 and newer models. The color is called Old GM white which matches my interior perfectly. Thanks, Dave, for your expertise.
One of my son's starving student friends asked me if I could fix "a couple" of holes in the trunk of her 03 Toyota Echo. I took a quick look and figured 2-3 hours work. She dropped the car off last night and I started on it at 10 this morning. I finished at 5:30! Five holes, two of them near the rear strut towers, one near the fuel filler. Great fun! Headache from welding fumes and I can hardly move from contorting myself inside the trunk to reach the areas to weld. I hate PEI cars!
I screwed plywood to the bottom of the joist so air could travel above venting attic space. I then built a crib out of 2x6 to hold the insulation and drywall
love the roxul but only using it for this area and the regular fiberglass in between the wood I`s. I got a real good deal on some that is full 24 width 12 thick. I need to cut them in half to fit the 12 on centre wood I`s
Roxul gives a pretty good fire rating. House I am building now for clients has a legal suite and parts of the mechanical room weren't accessible to drywall on both sides so they called for Roxul in the stud spaces instead. Not really sure of the exact rating for it but probably equivalent to one side of 1/2" drywall.
FINALLY got the gas tank back into my 88 Jeep after a month of trying to get proper parts. First it was the sending unit, then the filler hose. Took 4 attempts to get the proper filler hose. Fuel gauge now works. Had the Jeep running for 1/2 hour. Coolant reservoir started leaking. Removed it and found it had been gooped over on the bottom - ordered new one from Ebay (cheapest source). Figured I'd check faulty washers (I wonder how this passed inspection?). Found pump faulty - ordered new one from Rock Auto ($18 Cdn shipped). Found source of auto trans leak- pan gasket. Will source new one locally. Drove it around my property to test 4WD. Found it not engaging. Found actuator that locks front axle NFG. Removed it and secured it permanently into the locked position. Of course one actuator bolt had to break so I'll have to drill it out. Assembled enough to test- 4WD working!
So, in summary I still need to:
Fix broken bolt for actuator
Change trans pan gasket (may as well put a new filter in as well)

Manual or power brakes? Maybe a lawn mower engine for moving around? Nice job.

Grenaded first gear in my Muncie trans in my '66 Chevy II SS - was 3 hrs from home at 4:30 in the evening -had car flat decked it to my parents place 1.5 hrs back towards home (Thanks CAA) - my wife drove her car towards home to meet a friend of mine who went to my place and grabbed my extra M-21 so she wouldn't have as long of a turnaround - had trans out and ready for shifter switch over when she arrived at my parents place- she left for back to our other friends cottage (where we were) and I was having a beer with them at the cottage by 11:15 ready for the show the next day....and ended up getting best of show

i put this 4 bolt main in and pulled original low milage eng 350 out i had resealed the original installed new chain and gears high volume oil pump all new belt and hoses and put all kinds of eldebrok stuff on it drove for 2000 miles was great idling in my gravel driveway the oil line broke off eng pumped out under car i drove away not knowing i have gauges mounted under dash but the idiot lites were unpluged in its early life and who the hell is lookin at gauges it started hammering !so i got this eng and installed it last week now i have full gauges and idiot lites hooked up a very exspensive lesson ! the new eng is done up and this big beast can lay rubber now i put shift kit in but dont notice much difference thx for reading !i only put a couple miles on it taking it for beer tdy
I was out in my 18 ft center console today, a little test and tune. Hit 40 MPH on GPS with a 130 Honda outboard. I bought the boat in September, it hadn't been used much and motor was mounted too low. I raised it 1 notch and may move it one more. Supposed to be 20C here the next 3 days.
