LOL, I didn't do it like the factory, but I guess I should have! Ouch, that would be nasty! Firing up the jig saw hurt enough...

New clutch and throw out bearing too?

No, I'm leaving the original clutch in there. It IS only a 283 remember.

 A 283 with a 5400 red line?

I won't be banging gears too hard in this car now or when it gets the big block! I don't think the red line will ever be an issue biggrin

went to clean up the driveshaft .. thought Id check it for straight ness .. I had been chasing a slight highway vibration before I started the resto .. anyways .. noticed where it had some grind marks .. seems it was cut at one point..  and its not properly phased ..

Did a little more work on my brother in laws 47 Chev ex Saskatchewan farm truck this morning.

He bought my old Grande HO350 and TH400, we installed it all last fall, and I built him an entirely new wiring harness front to back. Relayed the headlights, did a central powerpoint. The truck has a 72 mustang front end and a 9".

Got it to the point of cranking over today, and when the weather warms up we'll push it outside, add gas and fire it up. Can't play with gas inside as it's heated with a woodstove.

It turned out to be a super fun old truck project, and as rough as it looks there is almost zero rust...

I asked the wife to take me out back and shoot me and she said not till all the car stuff is gone, guess I'm Gona live a long time. New owner of frame has been waiting so I needed to get it done. i have someone interested in the shell For parts.Fingers crossed it goes

Wow, what a great looking utility truck Jim. Incredible job!

But sadly, the first thing that came to my mind was...it would be gone out of my driveway down here in about a day.
