Talked to Johnny (our "fixer") tonight. Turns out one of the pipes from the intake was connected to another pipe with a galvanized connector (prev owner must have done this). It corroded and was sucking air.. All fixed. Was offered a trip out tomorrow to do some mackerel fishing. Just may take him up on the offer.
Todd, I saw a PEI lobster boat that had an 1100HP Cat. What do they normally use for raw saltwater intake, bronze?
These boats will be hybrid power soon.
Don

I think so. Some of these guys have incredible boats. Before moving here I had the impression fisherman were poor. That's far from the case! Lobster fisherman this year have been offered over 1 million just for their license!
I was up near Lamecque, nb back in the 80s, I saw a new Lamborghini owned by a fisherman, bright red and looked new.

Unbelievable what people toss out! When I visited Darryl earlier in the month he was gracious to give me one of those vintage gooseneck lamps that used to hang from garages back in the day (I've been looking for one for my workshop), as well as a vintage and like new CN Engineers hat, and a new "Man Cave" sign for what else, but my man cave! All this stuff was being tossed out.
That is ultra cool. I visited Dorchester a few times, looks the same as Kingston. Never met anyone I wanted to meet again.

Had lunch once, it was on one of those 50's fiberglass TV plates with the sections. It had canned corn, instant mashed potatoes, "instant" turkey slices, and some canned gravy. Was with a guy who serviced their wood shop gear, one of the inmates lifted a 25HP electric motor and put it in my trunk............... Was in Dorchester 4 or 5 times, Springhill Pen 4 or 5 times.

Sprayed part of the 78 Chevy. I am experimenting and tried the Dupli-color ready to spray quart cans, both colour and clear. Not a super gloss and a fair bit of orange peel but it was pretty warm when I sprayed so I'm thinking it layed down a little dry. The green is a gorgeous colour, in my opinion. I will be spraying the hood and front valance in the next week depending on my available time.
It does start to add up cost wise. To do jambs, inside of fenders and the rest as seen in the pic took 5 cans of colour and 3 cans of clear. 8 cans at 33.95 each = $271.60 plus tax. I still have the box to do and am expecting to use about the same amount of paint.
From previous paint jobs a typical car uses a gallon of colour to which reducer and hardener needs to be added plus the same for the clear. Even an inexpensive base clear is $700 - $800. Then add another quart or two to do the insides and jambs. I suspect you will be at a g note pretty quickly.
I spent the last two evenings replacing all the suspension bushings on my car trailer. It was to the point that the tandem trailer was basically a single axle trailer because the equalizers for the leaf springs to spread the load evenly on the axles were seized solid. Had to heat everything red hot to get all the pivot and mounting bolts apart. One of those jobs where it feels good to have it done.
I was scared when I hauled that 455 Parisienne a few weeks ago and when I checked the hubs on the trailer I couldn't hold my hand on either rear hub. All the load was on the rear axle.

Getting the house ready to host guests this weekend. My cousin (who I haven't seen in 15 years) flies into PEI this morning and is staying until Sunday around noon. Then we are meeting my son's girlfriend's parents for the first time. I guess this relationship is serious...
Put new upper control arm bushings in the El Caminos 12 bolt. Tried earlier in the week but had no luck. Decided to put them in the freezer as I took a chance. Untder the car swinging away one was fairly easy. Not the other one. Not easy laying under car jacked up in the driveway. Put a 4x4 on top of a jack same height as the bushing. Got the sledge out. 3 massive swings later it was in.

ha, the Manitoba run will be the last haul before I change the trailer over to bigger wheels and hubs, tires are just about done, 1500 miles will finish the tread. gotta love trailers.
