As suggested by Todd in another thread I replaced the evap purge solenoid on the HHR . Also changed the window switch and put the snow tires on . Took for 50 km test drive and check engine light did not come on. Fingers crossed is stays off.
I put the pistons and bearings and chain in the 327 .and the cam and lifters,,and relized if you turn the motor around to the bottom the darn lifters fall out..DUH had to clean them up and relube not so smart { somedays} ! haha
Had a little chance today, pre Christmas to work on the 327 and get the shed a little more organized. Messes play havoc on my mind.
Was able to clean up all the rods and caps. Broke down one of the 291 Camel hump heads and set to cleaning it. 51 year old grime and carbon is very stubborn. Used a can of Dollarama oven cleaner on a suggestion from the web. Took a few hours of soaking and re applying, but worked pretty good. Was able to rinse it off with the garden hose it was that warm here today. I then blew them off with compressed air and dried them with a heat gun. Over the next couple of months my cousin is going to do a quick de ridging and blending of the intake ports below the valve seats. He has done many SBC heads and says it'll be good for a little better flow, even with the small 1.94 valve. I'm all for it, he says he's bored! Everything looks to be in very good shape including the valves and guides, so they won't be getting cut, just lapped. A clean up, lapping, new stock type o ring seals, springs and rockers will be it for these camels.
Oh, and the silver valve spring compressor tool you see over to the side, it absolutely works like a charm. Cheers.

Santa just bought me a new engine hoist,,1 ton princess auto 160 bucks so I will be putting that together this weekend..one step closer! Thinking if I know whats best for me Santa better get something nice for my lady also !!!
Santa good. I've had a princess auto hoist for years now. Has sat outside ( with a greased shaft) and looks pretty sad, but it has always worked great and it's a good thing to have.

haha thank goodness I still have to borrow a trailer..I havent the room here to have friends come by to work on thier cars and haveing a son thats car crazy I know better to lend my stuff out IF it comes back always something missing or lost haha

Now live about 3 hours apart so it's tough relying on his tools.
funny thing every time I have I borrow a tool to my son I give him a hard time that I want it back and in one piece ,,,,I can remember my father saying the same to me,,funny how things come back around
This is the first holiday that's been longer than 3 days since last Christmas for me so I've been enjoying the time off. Getting some small projects done that I haven't had time for. I mounted a small solar panel on my shed with a charge controller. I'm using it to keep the battery in my lawn tractor charged. I used the Jeep to drag 3 fallen trees out of the woods and got them cut and split. I widened the path at the back of my property through the woods that leads to the river. I also resumed the renovation work on the spare room (aka Man Cave) that I haven't touched since last winter. I'm not back to work unitl Jan 2 so I'm hoping to get a fair chunk of it finished. Lots of plaster work to do, new trim, flooring, etc etc. Oh, I've eaten quite a bit of food....
was busy freezing my butt off uncovering a 85 dodge convert I hope to sell tmrw dam took it out on the hi way for a run and it has to have a spring temp thermo in it ..makes sence ..cant imagine anyone in the old days driving a convert in the winter..I am sure there was though..the fellow { IF } he shows is planning on driving it home 3 hrs away..best have a pair of long johns on lol
I debated buying one of those for this build but common sense told me this is likely my last build so it made more sense for me to spend the money elsewhere. I'm betting you can make some money with that tool.

Made some more wall art. Thinking 47 Olds tail lights(but not sure) with LED lighting. Just luv the look of the glass in the top of the housing. Also built my son some speaker brackets..just a nice day in the shop...playing with my own stuff! Can you guess the colour?
I've been doing various woodworking/metal projects. The main two; I'm jumping between restoring an antique 1920s dry sink and late 1800s blacksmith vice.
