All this BB stuff is makin me crazy! lol...Just love it..all of it. Carl I wish I was there looking at your rig!...My have to rethink my original 63...
And you've met my wife, she's not enough of a counterweight if I got her to stand on the back of the cherry picker for ballast!
Call over Bubba the neighbour that used to used to play on the Blue Bomber's line.

Putting 4 speeds in from the bottom is pretty easy as long as the clutch is aligned. I hate trying to put automatics in from underneath and Id much rather put those in with the engine from above. Way easier to install the bellhousing bolts when the engine is on the stand.
Having an extra set of hands (with a couple hundred pounds of ballast) is always helpful.
When I was 17, a buddy & I pulled a small block & powerglide out of a 64 impala using a 2 inch pipe and chain. Just lifted it out. Stepping down off the fender while keeping the engine & tranny up in the air was the hard part. We also installed trannies from underneath by lying down on your back, drag the tranny onto your chest, slide under the car (or have buddy drag you). Once in position, just bench press the tranny up and hold it while your buddy started a bolt. Wouldnt it be great to be in that kind of shape again.
Lol yep I remember those days also..thinking I am not young and strong any more but I am smarter .. wish I was smarter when I was young maybe would not feel so sore and old now haha
Bill - you are so right. Do you think maybe theres a link to the fact I havent slept through the night in a bed in over 9 months? Shoulder & neck pain. Bad knees. We do pay for our sins.
Been doing my muncie's like that for a while. Pull it out and onto your chest, roll it off and pull it out from under car,
hardest part is picking it up off of floor when trying to put it back in. Just made a wooden cradle for my floor jack this week.
no hoist yet so old school. hoist coming in the next year I hope. As so as new shop comes.

x3 and still doing it(no hoist yet ). Tailshaft on the knees....trans under the arms. Have tried the floor jack...but just more of a pain to get the right angle. I also leave the pressure plate/clutch backed off a bit( bottomless bell housing)...not totally tight, but just enough to hold the clutch in place with a bit of tension. Allways a little wiggle and she slips right in

I had an input shaft for clutch alignments. I benchpressed more than a few Muncies, Turbo 350, and 400 transmissions into place. Maybe that's why everything hurts now.
I can't believe I didn't buy a hoist 10 years ago when be built a nice shed at the farm, 28 x 42, beautiful concrete floor. I should have put one in and then brought it along when we moved to town. I could have saved myself a lot of grief and pain 10 years sooner.
I've spent $3300 a lot more foolishly than on a hoist.
And yes, I used an input shaft to line up the clutch. Got the trans to the right height, couple of wiggles and twists and Bob's your uncle!

Out with buds truck and in with mine! Needed some front end work on mine(center link/tie rod)...only 2 left on the list...39 International Doors and 74 Astre hood scoop, then the shop is mine again!!!!! Just a note....if you have a shop and the know how...you'll have lots of friends.....
We've done some front ends on those F250'F350's at work. That's quite a conglomeration of linkage on the front of those! Partsman's nightmare looking that stuff up.

Yes..and seems every model (150/250/350)has different drag, centre etc!! Must be a |Ford thing! They even change bolt patterns on rims!!!! My god...how many bolt patterns do you need? I remember when my boss got a new truck back in the 90's and wanted to put the rims off of his old truck on his new one(F150)..wouldn't fit...wrong bolt pattern!.....F thing! Bolt patterns https://www.roadkillcustoms.com/wheel-bolt-pattern-cross-reference/makes/ford-wheel-size/ Sit down....you might get dizzy!!!

I checked the date code to make sure it's the original, and it is. I kind of figured it would be because the overspray on the coil matched the angle it's mounted in the bracket. And the neat part is, I was looking for an unrelated part yesterday when I discovered I still have what I think is the original coil from my 65 Acadian. Even though the date code on it is wrong, I have a spare coil.

I used some long bolts with heads cut off for guide pins, so jack will be used just to get things in general area.
No inspection cover on my scatter shield so can't cheat. Hopefully this is the last time on the floor.
