RE: what did you do in your garage / shop and or driveway today ?

I went to all of them before hand. But I think they were probably not too happy. It was the first really nice day here. Oh well, it's done.

I wished I had worn earplugs!

While I was out in the shed today, my little Millie proudly brought me something. I never knew she would actually kill. She's been rooting around back of the shed for a couple of months, but I never expected this..

I guess instinct takes over. After all, they were probably bred for this.

Pretty sad actually. Cute little bugger.

Nice job Mark! She purrs! Guy we (long story) bought the truck from bought it in 04 and think he may have put 1000 miles on it. Pulled the dip stick when we got there..crystal clear. Ran it for 5 min and pulled it again...still crystal clear. Just ugly from sitting and an intake leak I think. 155-160 comp all round.

It started up pretty much no trouble. Too much advance held it back a little. Ran it for 1/2 hour at around 2000, varied the speed. Tach did not work for some reason. Went by ear. Temp came up to 195. Oil pressure good. One leak at the oil pressure sender fitting. Water pump leaked when I added water, stopped when it got hot.  Small exhaust manifold leak on top at 3 and 5. Small drip at the main seal? Pan gasket? Hope so. Will check when the flexplate comes off. All water tight. Ran better each time I started it.

No noise, no knock, no ticking, runs smooth, no smoke. Starts and Idles nice. Blips really nice! Pretty crisp. Dipstick smells good. Plugs look good. No carbon. I'm happy.

Good stuff! Time for gasket goo. wink

Yes, sad. Where there is one, there might be more.

We had a family in our back yard last year where a mother had three babies concealed in under some ground cedars.  We made a small fence so our lab Pokey couldn't get at them and the mom could come and go.  In three weeks, the babies would be gone so we went the preservation route and eventually one day the nest was empty.  So they babies had left but, a day or two later, Pokey got a baby and killed one.

I read that rabbits will prefer a yard that has a dog so other predators steer clear.  They can make a nest that is grade level and you won't even know they are there.

Listen to that 327 run, its a powerful sounding small block motor. No wonder Massey used them in their combines back in the day. The Massey engineers likely went to the GM plant with some HP spec requiremnts and then listened to something like that humming along.

Finally some nice weather .Picked up a set of deep-dish rims for the rear my 87 GTA they were in bad shape so i decided to take the anodizing off all the wheels and polish & paint them up

What a job that was,LOTS of sanding involved  plus the gold is brighter that what should be but i dont care.Added a new set of 245/50/16's and its good to go

I had a colour match done for Spring Green. This was a one year only paint option in 1972. My first 72 Nova (45 years ago) was this colour.

Those rims really match the car and set it off. They compliment the car instead of distracting from it.

Too many of the newer after market rims are made to catch the eye so much that you hardly notice the car only the rims.

Switched the winter wheels for the summers on my 15 Explorer sport today. And my god..the brakes looked bad. Not so much worn (maybe 50 percent, 79K), its the freekin rust! That brine is so bad on brakes now days.

Partsource has a buy 1 get the other 50 % off right now. So front premium pads and rotors, $309. Pretty fair I figure as they are big truck like parts.

Everything came apart pretty good. Little rotor Torx screws actually came out! The passenger side rotor needed a good turn and pound sequence to get it broke free. Everything including the hub center, but not the wheel studs got a little dab of never seize for next time.

Always nice to get the big wheels on!

I did not drive this car over the winter.

I found dealer stock cheaper then premium after market stuff.

Should have just used white box because,

Sorry Johnnee,

I just sold her !

I finally got the 64 Impala front end back together, 4 new B/joints, all new uppr. & lwr. C/arm bushings, 2 new lwr. control arm,new gas shocks, & sway bar link kits! This was a job that fought me all the way, uppr. arms have NO clearance for removal with 409 "lump"and I had to cut the bolts then press them out after arms were off, "or' remove exhaust , or lift engine out!!!!Put all shims back in correct order but it "pulled" left " hard!!! trip to alignment shop showed "EVERYTHING" out of whack! the 9er now drives better than it ever has!! While I was at it ,I detailed the engine & re-painted it [in the car] 64 wagon got the mirrors converted to sequential arrows which was another job that tested my patience but turned out great, also converted both cars to quartz clock movement!!! Now all I need is some "good" weather!!! Took a pass on 2 shows already as sitting in the rain & cold temperatures don't "turn my crank"""

Are you running radials and if so, do you have the alignment specs?
