what did you do in your garage / shop and or driveway today ?

In the process of putting power brakes on Impala, just opened a "can of worms"!!! Booster hits the Rocker cover on 409, & hits the wiper mtr. on other side !!! Just took it back to supplier as he got me a 7" booster after waiting 2 1/2 weeks for it to show up!! Hoping this will fit "tomorrow" Have both bucket seats out & at upholstery shop having new seat covers & all new foam installed. Foam was "rotten" & falling off in chunks under seats. Installing electric fan on Wagon & Impala, wagon went well but Impala alot tighter fit, couldn't remove shroud without removing Pwr. strg. pump, so slid it back with just enough room to do it but "bleeding hands & fore arms" was not "FUN" Now the wiring begins!!!!

Ill take the compliment Bill, the car is on track for the World of Wheels at the end of March. Im hoping the cruising season comes early this year and i can get some photos done for the monthly feature. I be able to tell all the features of the car then. I will say that the guys on this site haveB90E2547-B816-436C-8802-475E24B11B64.jpeg been a great source of knowledge and encouragement.

Since my Canadian Poncho date cancelled for today, I had some time to try an experiment.

I took the old wheel the cdnpont gave me years ago and spent about a hour carefully removing the insert using a small box cutter to slice behind the very fragile tin.

003b.jpg

The new wheel was suppose to be exact but the opening for the for the wood grain but was smaller so I used a steel ruler and the same knife to trim the part.

With only a small touch of glue,

This, (My new OFR wheel)

Became this,

Last week I sent the bumpers for my 68 Impala convt out for re-chroming.

The brake rebuild will be finished next week. All required metalwork is completed and the body and chassis will be reunited in about three to four weeks from now after the underside has been painted and detailed; then comes exterior and interior paint,  convt top, upholstery and reassembly.

I'm trying to decide if I will plant the engine and trans back in the chassis before the body and front clip are installed. That wasn't my original plan but if I can get the trans ready in time I think that's what I will do.

Playing in and out of the shop. Property is getting there and so is the c-10. Have enough room to swing the machine! That was a BIG stump to dig out!!  Looking forward to camping this summer!!

Well, into the driveway at least! Got 4 brand New 15 x 8 Wheel Vintiques Series 62's from Randy (ABC123)

Thanks Randy, great meetup today! I think they'll look awesome on the 65, painted body colour blue with the dishes.

IMG_3899[6988].jpg

I'm looking at The Cooper Cobra in a 235/60 15 or 70 15. Maybe 245? Chosen on good price and a great rating from Tire Rack. Not many other choices in 15's anymore.

Any other ideas on rubber? Sizes? Styles?

Just my two cents mark, I would leave wheels a silver grey wider tires on the back and narrow up front

Went through this very battle Mark. 245 rears are too big (looks odd) to go with 205 or 195 on the front.  Try Tiger Paw,can still get a 235 for all the way around or 235 rear and 205 front.

I actually was thinking to do all the same size all round, in case one or two get thin.

Thinking if I was to do narrower on front, I would also probably go with a 6-7" wheel in that position. A narrow tire might not work on the 8" wheel.

Well, it wasn't really in my garage, but I travelled to Lethbridge to lay out the stripes on a W-30 and a W-31 for a customer. I have the factory blueprints for these, and have done quite a few of them.

Cobras are an awesome tire for the money, sold them for years and still run them on the summer stuff. On my 65s I run a 235/60 15 front and a 255/60 15 rear, gives just enough rubber rake, fills the wheel opening nicely.

Thanks, I bought that creeper at Costco a few years ago, and it makes it a lot easier on my back, knees, and other aging body parts. It's no longer available from Costco though.
