I did cedar trim around the inside windows in the cabin last year. Same thing, fresh from the mill, loaded it in the car and took it to the lake. Wow, the car smelled nice!

My friend Bill Lutrick, builds boats. Currently building a 32 ft Cape style boat, cedar and oak. Yanmar diesel. Pic is the lumber he starts with, the wip, and as it sits now. Its all screwed together and all exterior screw holes are plugged with the woodgrain of the plug lined up. 6000 plugs handmade and glued in. It amazes me, he designed it himself.

He starts with a half model and scales up from there. Every piece of wood on each side is unique and the other side is a mirror image. The oak ribs are bent using a steam box, it amazes me. He calculates where the water line goes on the hull from a calculation of the weight, then launches it. Bronze fastenings. Will launch in June.
I was thinking of doing a posting of the whole construction if anyone is interested?

That is just awesome. I like the honeycomb pieces where he has taken all his plugs. What a talent and Id love to see more. Some guys can build things just because they have CNCs and such where other guys have strictly ability. Thats where he falls. Thanks for sharing Don.
When I get around to it, Ill do a complete post with all the pics I have. Billys shop was built almost 100 years ago. He has all hand tools and saws, does everything by feel and eye. No computers, no CAD, just that half model made by hand. He is an artist.

Fantastic! If this pandemic ever ends I'd love to come and get a tour.
No problem. Billy used to have what he called a non shareholders meeting on Friday, byob and everyone welcome. One Christmas when he had a 44 ft Cape boat in the shop, 100 people and a band showed up and partied. Cut that back before Covid to once a month, no meetings now.

My son is building a 1/4 scale full function remote controlled Grader. Hes at the stage of wiring the controls. I will post a video in hobby section when he has it running up the driveway.

Pete, what is in front of your car? I've never seen anything like it.

Pretty much finished up the back window channel. Epoxy black, brushed pretty much everywhere except where the sealant contacts the channel. Of course the corners and most of along the bottom had to be coated as it had surface rust.
Removed all the old contact cement from the headliner strips at the rear window. New reveal clips installed, studs were perfect. Painted the lower inner trim section blue. Pretty much ready for the headliner saga.
Major mess up while painting, like an idiot I used a solo cup for the paint. The bottom of the cup came out and all the epoxy went down into the trunk channel.... and onto that nice new Metro Supersoft seal. Time to to order a new one now you Doofus!
