Just curious... Could these be the original Packard ignition wires on my '67 GP? They have a 1 - Q - 67 stenciled on them. I just recently changed the cap and threw it out. It was black with the old style Delco Remy emblem moulded inside, oops maybe. The wires are in what seems to be really good shape. Soft even. Also... could anyone ever reproduce this yellow firewall stencil as nice? I've seen attempts on big dollar cars, but it never looks right. Sorry about the image size guys.

could be. My 70 hardtop still has the original wires (only 40 years old), and my 70 convertible had 7 original wires on it when I bought it in 2001. Only it's #1 wire had been changed.
What is the build date of your car? Hopefully it's either late '66 or very early '67. If build date is in '66, then the wires are newer than the car.
for '67, did the wires route under the engine, and the front 4 wires come up through the motor mounts? (my '70 small blocks are like that). Usually when the wires have been changed people don't bother running them properly, and drape them over the engine.

Two on each side pass through the motor mounts. I have a new napa set, and was ready to change them, but when I saw the work involved to route the 2 forward wires L/R through the mounts and along the block I simply gave up.

I think they are not that bad. If you remove the boot of the distributor cap end and feed the wire in from front to back, then put the boot back on it should go okay.

No, I understand, no problem Carl changing them with some time. But is it unusual to see 43 year old wires still in use. The engine runs and idles totaly smooth. With more juice (electronic ign and better coil) they might not cut it. Or will they be fine?

They may be "repos" I remember seeing wire sets in Ammes Catalogue all date coded!! When I got my Catalina, it still had the orginal"s on it as well, dated feb 64 I tossed them " DUH"
