RE: L-79 Beaumonts??

Tribute biggrin  is probably more correct, as motor was added to duplicate, what was available from factory in 1966...  the only thing that is rare is "the body"... as Chevy B-bodies are very visable...  My Ventura II gets more attention (must be Nova body) than big car! Guess the folks at car shows are too young!  thanks

Nice!   nothing like the "torque" and "pull" of big block   Mine will lug down, and you can drive through small towns in 4 th gear and step on it and it just goes  no sweat...

A 427 is a very nice addition to any car. I find that you reach a limit to what your car can handle. My 65 SD 4spd small block is a hand full and anything more wouldn't do much more for the car. My dad told me that his 65 L-79 Beaumont was fast but nothing like the beast I have. He said that he would have to wait for the car to pull and mine is instant. I'm going to return the gear ratio to stock and see if he likes it. The car is a twin of his original car and will be insured for him again this summer to drive around.

I notice the 327 in my Ventura is a rocket with the 3.73 gear  It really hauls..   The big car "seems" lazy (1000 lb more) with 2.73's     Do you not think your Dad can handle the power? wink    I read a article written about the New HEMI DRAG CHALLENGER that Don Garlits drove in a charity race . He said he ran 10's and cut a .00007 reaction...He's 77  lol

No, he can handle it but the more the car reacts like his original the happier he is. Personally I enjoy my rag more.

I see smile   If I remember correctly a stock L79 was a rocket too..  I had a friend with a new 69 Camaro Z28  and it was "fast", but another friend had a 65 L79 Chevelle 4 speed and it was quick !    yours must be a handfull, if its quicker than stock..  lol     Sounds like I should pull the 4 speed out, and put it in the Ventura II   then I would smile?

When I ordered my '67 Beaumont SD in Nov. of '66, Iasked if I could get the 327/350 hp and the owner of the pontiac dealer ship in Essex Ont. told me it was not an option, but if I was serious he would try to get it through a friend at GM. He was not able to get it even with connections. So I ordered the 396/350 hp, and I'm happy I did.
