Going to the Collector Car Auction

A friend and I are heading to the Toronto Collector Car Auction this afternoon  to have a look around. He might be buying, I'm just looking. Anyone else planning on going this weekend?

I used to go quite regularly, but not any more.  I have found the quality and the quantity of the vehicles has really gone down hill in the past few  years.  Many of the cars are now things like 10-15 year old BMWs and Mercedes that are just standard used car lot fare, what are they doing at a "collectible" car auction?  This auction hasn't been good since the hey day when Kruse was involved.  I remember then they used to have these giant auction boards up that would simultaneously show the bids in Cdn dollars, US dollars and British pounds.  Those days are long gone.... bored.gif

I believe they have steered away from the used car lot in the past few auctions by making under $10k no reserve cars only.

The whole industry has less good stuff for sale.

Rm has let it go in favour of selling higher end stuff (profits) and likely avoiding selling to the lower end-I'm sure higher end sales along with their potential buyers are easier to deal with on a professional level. (not trying to be prejudice)

Dan has put a lot of work into this sale taking it over from Rob-say what you will its still one of the best sales in this country.

Shelby GT will be there picking up sales for all those who missed the bidding-

I'm suppose to be there sat/sun but it now looks like only sunday-theres no time this month at all.

check out my recent post. I was there with friends and my dad (who knows all these guys). Pretty good showing. Many cars going for under $15K, and some nice buys in higher end as well. They do show the cars, details, and pricing in Cdn and US$'s, which were very close this time around. Without the Americans here (because the dollar is not in their favour), the prices did not get driven up like i've seen in the past.
Not going back anymore this weekend.
