Hullo from White Rock

Hi all, I've popped in here a coupla times in the past but now that I own a canadian pontiac I figured I better sign up.  I just picked up a '61 laurentian from Nelson B.C. and drove it back to White Rock on sunday.  I was racing the weather the whole way but luckily only hit one small snow flurry.  It was an amazing drive in an amazing car.  She's got a mildly built 350 bored .30 over but aside from that she's mostly stock.  Still wearing the original laquer paint too, nicely patina'd of course...

I've had a few pontiacs in the past, a '79 formula firebird and a couple of (bleh) sunbirds.  Right now I also have a '67 olds cutlass and I'm still mourning the theft of my '67 biscayne.

Welcome.

Theft of the Biscayne must make you Striper's brother.

That is a cool car, especially original paint.

Haha, I was a little alarmed at first but now 67rag's comment makes sense.  Yep, I'm Striper's brother, I didn't realize he was an active member here.

Yeah I thought that was pretty funny.  Last owner said it was great in summer though, she get's pretty warm inside.  I barely had to use the heater the whole drive home from Nelson.

That driving photo is very nice. Reminds me of my 64 Beau. Thanks for sharing and I hope the new car can fill the boots of the other.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I loved that biscayne, probably as close to a "finished" car as I'll ever get. This one definately eases the pain though, and that drive back from Nelson was a great bonding experience. I've always loved late 50's and early 60's gm "off-brands", so I'm pretty excited about this car.

Haha, you're not exaggerating either.  I used to live in surrey near the guildford mall, which I believe at one point was the car theft capitol of north america.  My wife's car was stolen from there, my car got broken into twice, and there was a shoot out in my underground parking.  White Rock is a little slice of heaven compared to that.  Until my biscayne got stolen the only real threat around here was all the elderly drivers!

Parked my 1979 Bronco at Guildford to see a movie and never saw my truck again.
Both my kids were born at Peace Arch, so I know how to avoid those old farts with thier power scooters.
