"This is OnStar. Is there an emergency?"

"No thank you, Mam."

Is everyone in the car allright?"

Yes, Mam, thank you."

I can remember long ago when Cadillac was not just top of the line in price, but top of the line in performance ... back in the 50's ... the absolute fastest car in my home town during my delinquint teenage years was a 40 Ford Coupe with a 50's Caddy mill, no mods to the motor, just as it was yanked out of the boneyard ...

Oh, sorry, I forgot about my other buddy with a chopped and channeled 32 Ford pickup with a bone-stock 55 Chrysler hemi (yeah a real hemi, not that crap they call a hem nowadays) ...

But I do concede that modern technology is superior to all that 50-year-old stuff ...

I was reading the comments after watching the video a few more times!

Love this comment:

"On star is there an emergency?
Yeah uhh I'm trying to get into the mid 10's with this caddy but the darn thing just won't hook up in second...."

I'm surprised Hennessey is still in business after ripping off all those Viper owners...

I would never buy a vehicle with "on-crap". disbelief  It is just another example of the invasion of privacy and big brother watching and keeping track of everything that  you are doing.  Eventually these devices will allow the authorities to automatically limit your speed or even disable your vehicle on a remote basis.  The first thing I would do if I had a vehicle with it is to rip it out.  There are already huge unnecessary traffic jams on Ontario highways because of those moronic speed limiters on transports that limit them to 105 kmph.  Now it can take five minutes for one to pass another on the 401, meanwhile both lanes are effectively plugged up and the traffic can build up for miles very quickly.bleh

For those of you who don't already know, I'm a big libertarian, I want government out of my life to the greatest extent possible.  That's why private members bills like that one by that idiot Jim Karygiannis who wants speed limiters on every vehicle limiting it to 150 kmph are a harbinger of the Orwellian state to come.

Hillar, I am with you 100%.

I won't even install one of those electronic things that allow you to zip through toll booths (they subtract the $ charge from what you have prepaid) I would rather wait in line and be somewhat anonymous (what, you don't know that every vehicle leaving a toll booth has its license plate scanned?) than have electronic real-time data on my wherabouts (and speed between toll booths) recorded by the government.

US customs hauled me in and were asking about tickets I had 15 years ago. They go off the licence plate and know all about you before you get outta the car. I wonder what Canada has on me confuseconfuse
