pics of the 33 .....you asked !

33 chevrolet 3 window Mercury Coupe,  built in Regina SK.   They built cars there until WWII, then militray stuff, and never did build another vehicle after the war.  The standard coupe was called the Mercury, the master..Eagle... trivia...

I've been tinkering on this one for 10 years now,  plated and boxed original frame , mustang II with tubular arms, no strut rods, 9" 58 ford diff.
mild 454 with old Cal Custom shiny stuff.  T400 with a nice firm shift kit

Original M/T Radir wheels,  polished and re belled . 305/60/15 comp T/A drag radials and skinnies up front on 6" wheels

not a rat rod, but a project that will never be finished.....

Lots of fun ,  ain't fast , but a real seat of the pants rush to drive.

In all the car shows I've been to ,,,2 standards , and 1 master coupe that were steel cars. Glass bodys are built with a 2" chop. I never chopped mine ,,not gonna ,,,,I like it just the way it is.

Chevy's didn't survive because of all the wood, they used it for the structure , then the skin was nailed/screwed to it. Ford at the time used wood , but mostly for attaching the trim inside.

I have a 34 grill shell on my 33, it is 1 piece, visually the same , just a little different build.

talk about a money pit !!!

thanks for the compliments....rog

I have a all steel 1934 Standard 2 door Sedan. Raced it in the mid-sixties with a 301 Chev(283) and 4 speed. Restored as a resto-rod with 327. Hasn't been on street since 1973. It's been stored in heated garage. No rot in wood but very brittle. Perfect body.

I also raced a 1934 Chev coupe similar to yours except it had a hopped up 1954  235 c.i. six. My partner, my nieghbor, owned the body and I owned the motor and trans. In 1961 we set the track record on the dirt at Silverdale Speedway in Washington State. This was the first time out for the car. That was a fun time for me at age 17.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the 1934 Chev  but I do have a picture of the first car my neighbor raced in 1956. I was 12 years old  and the only job I could do was wash the car after the races and hook up the tow bar but it got me a free trip to races every week at Spanaway Speedway or Sea-Tac Speedway.  Car was restored 5 years ago after being found in the woods. A personal friend owns the car now and is located in Gig Harbor. I'd love to own this car for the memories. I'll probably buy it from his estate.

That's pretty neat. I posted these two photos back in early September because I didn't know what this car was that I spotted near my cottage, it was in Wyebridge ON. Most guys on board thought it was a 33 Olds but it sure looks like your 35 Master. What is it? confuse

DSCN2714.JPGDSCN2697.JPGThanks Roger for posting the pic's...didn't think the thread would be so popular! Here is my '34 Standard coach. A work in progress but all original. The chord and a half of wood in mine is good as well. My car was brought out from Sask. back in the 1960's. It's all steel and would make a hell of a street rod but it's too original. If you ever need a home for your 3 window, I'll make room for it here in Ontario! If anyone knows where to find parts out west for these old chevs, please let me know.

I wished I'd have bought those original Radirs a couple years back... The guy had the set of 4, with the original boxes they came in. I guess he got them from a guy who put them on his new GTO, then Smashed the car and put the wheels back in the boxes.
Bottom line, the guy offered them to me for $600 for the set.... Didn't really have the cash then and said no. Kicking myself now
