i like how back then even the trailers had design, not just utilitarion (not sure if thats how you spell that one!) like the ones today, which are so drab and boring, Thats whats missing in the world today, the design of an object to please your eyes also, not just heres the product, it does the job. Boring!! I think thats why i like alot of the art deco period stuff, always interesting designs. And of course old cars!!
Love those pics. My first glimpse of our new 53 Chev 150 2dr sedan was while it was still on the truck, not yet unloaded. My Dad had agreed to trade in the old 32 Ford on a brand spanking new basic 53 Chev. While on our way out to Grandma's our route took us past the dealership and there was our new car still on the carrier. Only 6 years old then but I can still remember the scene. Hooked for life.
Mark, you are right on that!!! I drove tractor trailer for almost 30 yrs. & those "old blisters" didn't have any "creature comforts" at all, some had "twin sticks" [2 trans. shifters] no air ride seat, & the air brakes weren't the greatest either!!! I didn't drive ones as old as these, [ I'm not that old !!! ] but I did tackle some of the twin sticks, you had to put one arm thru the strg. wheel to hold it straight while shifting with both hands, tricky, but once you caught on, seemed easy.
