Here I sit with a hoarse voice....

.......and it's not the H1N1 flu!!!

Our son's volley ball team just won their zone and it's off to the provincials in 2 weeks.

Yeah!!!!!

Best part is, we were the underdogs and we kicked butt!  We are an A team (us) versus a AAAA team, that's the sweetest part of all.

But man, my throat is sore!

Congratulations. Great fun. I love watching volleyball. Every point is like a small game in itself and I don't think there is a game that has the momentum swings like it does. And when they get playing like at your son's age can those kids pound that ball and then the amazing thing is how it can get dug up and the rally goes on. Still love playing beach volleyball when we go on holidays. Enjoy the moment, they go by so quick.

I was NOT going to be one of those parents who chased all over the country to watch his kids in sports. We said no to hockey when our son wanted to play. I never dreamed he'd like volleyball (gets that from his mom) and he absolutely craves basketball. The season starts after Christmas.

Like you say, watching those kids pound that ball is tons of fun. Our son and at least 3 team mates are over 6 feet. One guy is 6'5".

And sadly, only 2 more years of it for him after this year. However, our daughter is in grade 8. She appears to be starting a growth spurt now (I'm over 6', my wife is just a hair under 6') and daughter loves volleyball and basketball, soooooooooooooo..............

LOL, I think this could go on for a bit still!!! And son is talking about college, but it has to be one with a good basketball team!

Well I put on alot of miles following my kids play sports but to me it was not one minute wasted. It was the best money I ever spent. Partialy for selfish reasons as I really do enjoy sports but especially when they were younger it was great bonding time and we could discuss lots of things. As a result we have a really close family even though my youngest who turned 18 this week is in Montreal going to school and another is at the coast also in school, they tell me everytime on father's day cards and such how much they appreciated me and of course my wife being there to support them in there endevours. Keep it up Carl.

My wife was telling me today that when she was on the road today taking our son there (I had to go later due to our daughter's volleyball practice) he was discussing baptism with her. Can't beat that kind of discussion while traveling! You're right, it makes it all worth while.

And it's nice to hear from guys with more experience at it than I have. Kind of reinforces my thoughts that we are doing the right thing, regardless of time and cost involved. And I was the one so opposed to it years ago..........

Congrats to the boy Carl. I was never one to watch sport on TV or pay to go to a game but I love watching kids play any game. They are doing it for the love of the game not the money.
