Sort of the same idea that I've posted previously from my brother's garage which says "If you can read this sign you are within Range."

I made a "comment" on a Ventura site, and the southern friends were all over "it"

I just wondered why you can, or should be able to purchase, assault weapons or had guns that can fire 15-16 bullets per sec? at places called Gun World (re Fort Hood)
They suggested, I should have such weapons to defend myself... It sort of makes sense, especially, if you think of the savings, we would have, by not having Police..

As a gun enthusiast friend of mine has always told me. If you outlaw guns only Outlaws will have guns. And he always likes to quote some sats on a place in Texas where the law is you have to own a firearm. Rate of property crime and home invasion..... almost 0.
Just more food for thought.

Absolutely correct.  In England, since they have tried to "ban" guns from private ownership, the amount of violent crime using guns has actually gone UP.  Regardless of what any law or legislature may profess to do, remember you always have the absolute right to defend yourself, your loved ones and your property.  If someone attacks you, what are you supposed to do, cower in a corner waiting for the authorities to maybe show up who knows when?  Here's a little tidbit from history, one of the first things Adolf Hitler did when he came to power was to ban the private ownership of guns.  If you weren't defending the Reich, who could possibly need a gun?evileye

My favourite saying:  Gun control is being able to hit your target.wink

Another tidbit kinda related to this topic is if you, or friends or relatives think you have a prowler or attempted break in, a fireman friend of mine in WPG, says phone 911 and tell them you are having a heart attack, you'll have 4 guys and an axe at your door in under 5 mins, rather than 30 min -1 hour for the Police, as the FD does the first response calls in the city. And they won't be mad at all about the false alarm under the circumstances. The prowler doesn't get caught be he's sure scared off.

Don't get me started on the amout of money the Gov't spent on gun control to take guns outta the average Joe and the only people now that carry guns are gang members. How stupid do you have to be thinking a criminal will register his firearms. As for shooting a fully automatic weapon it's a blast.

I said I would never register my old rifles and I never did.I just can`t get over all the law abiding people who willingly handed in their guns with bleeding hearts because they were afraid of the government and thought they were doing something to reduce crime.

I agree with everything, except the fact that you can only get one shot per hour out that black powder shooter Carl!

Exactly.     He needs his too.    you half to ram it, and pour powder on it, and light it, and aim it and wait for it   thats where the hour goes

My last TD before i retired was in Israel occupied Syria. everybody there carries a gun. very strange to be in a line up in a store and the guy ahead of you has a 9 mil on his hip or to see young adults waiting for a bus with a rifle across there shoulders. on a side note my eyes didn't stray too far knowing that any distraught hubby would be armed.

Hey Carl. I think I have a box full of lead for my old 45 caliber Pennsylvania long rifle. The round balls were none too accurate but the maxi balls were pretty good. It would take me a couple of minutes between rounds. There was over a billion dollars wasted on this foolish idea but you have to remember something. There is now a whole department of people in Ottawa overseeing this and they aren't about to give up their jobs without a struggle. Sort of a self serving entity so to speak.

My dad passed away a little over 2 years ago but I had to chuckle on his attitude with guns. He always had a few and enjoyed hunting but when he would come out to visit me with their truck and camper he always carried his revolver in the camper. When he came I told him he couldn't be packing that thing around in his truck, it was only licensed to be used at home on his farm. His reply was when I'm travelling this is my home and it can come with me. Nothing ever came of it but I know he always got a good nights sleep.

My Grandmother passed away a couple years ago, and left me my grandfathers hunting rifles. I didn't want them so my mom and my aunt took the guns to a gunshop to sell. Two white haired ladies walking into a gun shop, carrying 3rifles, a Shotgun and a "saturday night special". The Shopkeeper just about s##t himself as he asked them to please take the handgun out of his store. When he told them it was restricted, and they should take it to the police, then they got scared.
Anyways, the cops where suspicious and asked why my Grandfather would have a gun like that. He worked for Ontario Hydro as a lineman, and it was used for protection against animals in some of the remote locations he worked. He gave them a reciept for it and told my Aunt not to lose it, in case the gun gets into the wrong hands.??? It may fall off the truck that the police use to take them to be destroyed???? He was joking(I guess) but scared the Hell outa my Mom and Aunt....
He did Apologize and print her off a couple extra copies...LOL

sounds like the olympics... we should be proud of our Owe-verachiever status...

taxes, they sure go to the most useless of things... i can pick a few more that rank high up there...

ak

ps. i do think the idea of owning assualt rifles, big magazines, handguns etc. is ridiculous... if you cant 'defend yourself' with a 12ga shot-gun (or a 30-30) you probably shouldn't own a gun!
