Weird things happening on the 79 Z-28 thread

I have tried to posta reply twice on the 79 Z-28 thread and each time I was redirected to another site.
The first time I received a warning my computer was being invaded and I should download some security software I had never heard of before all my personal information was stolden.  I shup everything down and ran my own security software and the computer was clean.
I came back 5 hrs later and again tried to post a reply and again was redirected but this time I was disconnected from the site and a message my internet connection was lost.  But I had another window open and it was fine.  It appeared something was trying to redirect my to another site again.
Not sure what's going on but it appears to be connected to that thread.

Anyone else having problems? Did this "Alpha Security" software come from this site? What site were you directed to?

I haven't had any problems on this end.

You definitely have a spam problem on your server. This the only site that I get spam on. As long as you don't click on it your fine.

Went to the microsoft site and looked up "Alph virus". It's a known one that shows up as finding a number of threats on your computer (none of which are valid except for the Alpha itself.)  To summarize, it's goal is to get you to register/pay to enable the Alpha Virus checker.  (Don't do it.  If you have, call your credit card company.)
The Microsoft site suggests a way to remove it using "Maleware" (sp?) and provides a link for the n/c version. (My computer is currently scanning. If it works, I'll send the link to the Microsoft site...)

I sent an urgent support request to Activeboard with a link to this thread. I should have answers shortly. I also complained about the spam type ads at the top a couple of days ago. They are looking for a solution (perhaps moving our forum to another domain).
I'll keep you folks posted.

I suspect this is coming from one of those banner ads. I'm still waiting for a reply from Activeboard

When this happens please take note as to what the ad is on top of the screen. Also, if you can take a screen shot of all this and email it to me at canadianponcho@rogers.com that would help too.

Hasn't happened to me as I've made an entry in my HOSTS file that stops allowing the advertising banners to display when I'm viewing these threads.

Here's information on the likely culprit and how to safely remove it.

I got this reply from Activeboard today:

"Hi Todd,

I have sent a message to our advertising partner and am awaiting a
response. According to the terms of our agreement with them there should
be no pop up ads and certainly ads that trigger your virus scanner.

If we don't get a reasonable resolution from them we have an idea
involving moving large forums such as yours to their own domain (e.g.
canadianponchoforums.com). This would allow us to hopefully sell your
advertising to higher quality and more targeted adverting networks.

Cheers,

Brendan
Sparklit Support"

If you saw something like this, then use the technique described in my earlier post above.
