CRAP!

Got nailed yesterday afternoon. Last time for blasting through the gears before I put the Z away. Had the boy in car for a last little rip, As we leave the stop sigh down the road from home( In the country, no houses around) He says "put the hammer down dad!) So off we go! As I shift from 3rd to 4th, (passing an elderly couple out for a drive,my freakin' neighbours!) on the proper broken line, guess who comes around the corner? Yep, you guessed it, A darn cop! Looks like christmas.(f%&k!) walks up and says what the hell were you doing?? Bends in to get a better look, see's my 7year old, and says how's your driving record? I said good until now. Told him car's going away tomorrow, kid wanted a last blast before. Almost home, etc. Comes back with a ticket and says, 50 feet earlier he would have had me off the breaks, and the car would have been towed. (figured I was going 140/145 in an 80) but gave me a break. 10 over and no points, because of the kid, I hit the breaks and pulled over as soon as I saw him, and didn't lie to him. Gave me one hell of a break!! Couldda been severly screwed.( Call the wife to pick my son and I on the side of the road?? DEAD!!) This is what happens when in a fast car, nice day, straight line for 5 km's, great tunes and the last time out for the season. Aw well at least it's only 40 bucks and no points. Sigh. sheepish.gif

You say Crap, I say I hope you went to Church this morning and thanked God!

Now, did he have a radar or did he just clock you ? Take it court he might not show.

Wow, you got a lucky break!

I will try to make my long story short!

The other night at midnight I had to go pick up our son in town when the church youth group came home from a concert in Winnipeg. They meet on the parking lot at our credit union. The credit union is about a block and a half from the dealership I work at. One of the kids who is in youth has a white Clown Vic cop car (oh, and yes, I hear it has the cop chip!!!!). Anyway, I was pulling off off our dealership yard with the 6 speed Impala and saw the white Clown Vic just leaving the parking lot. Thinking maybe our son was getting a ride home with him I figured I better catch him before they got out of town (and it was an excuse to show off a bit.....). Stood on it pretty hard in first, same for second and about half way into second OHHHHH NOOOOO, the Vic has stripes down the side!!!!! Hammered on the brakes, turned into the C/U parking lot. The officer looks at me for a while and then slowly drives away. I know he saw the lights on my car going up and down as I accelerated and shifted! I knew he couldn't have me on radar, he didn't have time. Anyway, close call.............. Probably was about 75 km or a bit more in a 50 km zone.

Yes you were lucky!!!  I nearly got it last week on Hwy 7a here in Ont' was going eastbound at 95 K's in a 80, as I crested a hill cop was coming at me, I looked in the mirror & sure enough on came the lights & he pulled a U turn, but he ended up on the shoulder, & 7 or 8 cars crested the hill, he had to wait to get going, I put the "boot" down & made it to my turn off with "no signal" thru town & into d/way, & put truck in garage!!!  Didn't need a ticket that day or any other day!!  "I fought the law & the law lost" or some such tune??   Pete

Not to many blue zappers out here where I live Figured I didn't need an evade charge with my kid with me. If i had been alone, who knows what would have transpired as he had an old 6 banger impala.

I got nailed a few years back in my Regal GS. I was heading out of London (with my son too!) and put the hammer down. These supercharged Buicks sure move out. Well, I didnt realize I had passed an unmarked Taurus. He eventually caught me and then gave it to me because my son was with me. After he saw I had a good record he calmed down but I still lost some demerit points...

Sorry The Man busted you but actually sounds like it did not turn out too bad, could have been much worse, and maybe a talk afterwards with your son, something along the lines of 'tell the truth and you will be alright, sometimes you do something that is a bit outside of the rules but if you are in control and there is no danger to others ...'

I routinely do not do a full stop at stop signs if no one else is anywhere near, and do not put turn signals on if I am in a "turn only" lane, etc., and you of course know the reason why, hopefully we can pass along to our children that they should not blindly accept authority but should do the right thing.

I also constantly look for The Lurking Man and have had good success avoiding tickets, the other day a rice-rocket punk tried to challenge my truck, last I saw of him was the blue-and-red flashingl ights pulling him over ... speed limit + 9 works all the time.

But sometimes when the road is clear you just gotta let it all out. Nevada is a good place for that, or the Autobahn in Germany smile.gif

RE: Deer

Hey I got a few in Wisconsin, one ran into the side of my mom's 55 Chevy when I was driving from S. to N., another leaped in front of my 68 Corvette when I was driving from E. to W., they are almost as stupid as manatees, see your headlights and jump into the road anyways.

Some day you might get to Nevada or Germany, so keep practicing your high speed driving technique smile.gif_

RE: CRAP!

It was mine fair and square (broke it's legs on impact) cop shot it (5 freakin' times!) then said , and I quote" I shot it so it's mine." Well at 5 am in the dark deserted road, major arguement with a 5 foot jack a$$ with a loaded glock, Not smart. Yadda yadda, prick took my dear. Hope he choked on a slug. But I digress, Been to Vegas a few times for hockey tournaments (More stories when we are in the same room, the women CANNOT hear these!!!) Wanted to rent a viper but was never sober enough to want to risk a high speed wobble.

Ooooh Nevada, when I was a young dude, late 20's, I did a major consulting job in Reno, had to go there every month from a few days to a few weeks over a 6 month period, when you are ready to swap stories in a wife-less place, count me in biggrin

And I haven't been there driving in a loooooong time so I can only remember the no-speed-limit roads like they used to be, most likely not the same now disbelief

Great you stayed outa' the points Mike also a good lesson for your lad on how treating the coppers w/ respect pays off!.

I got pinched twice this summer doing a whopping 65 Kph in a 50 zone...hardly worth it but I was running a dead sticker they didn't notice so took the punishment w/ a smile..

Seems like a deal overall as they were the first Speeding tickets I've had in over 10 years...and I always speed!.

My worst ticket ever was over 15 years ago but 179 Kph in an 80 zone!.
What was a $975 fine and a 30 day suspension then would be major grief now!.

We gotta get together and swap stories! My worst ticket was a total of 795$ in 1987 in a 78 t/a. The bas$%#d followed me for 25 miles but coulden't catch me. I just saw the high beams pacing me. (16 years old at the time) Thought let this chicken s^&t break trail for a while, so I slowed down until he got even with me, looked over at him, HOLY S&*T it was a Q.P.P!! If anyone has been yanked by the Quebec gestapo, you know what I'm sayin. To long to write here but, wow what a fine that was! Probably getting even when I shut my lights off at a speed trap by Vaudreuil at @:30 A.m one late nite. (120 mph speedo, it was burried!) Ahh, good times, good times. Sigh.

Coming back on the Trans Canada HWY from Radium a couple years ago. I was in my Corolla GTS, motoring along about 120kph, a Subaru Imprezza passed me, hes probably up around 200, anyways, I start to speed up as well, I figure if there are any RCMP out, they'll grab him and I'll see it before they get me.
Anyways, it was getting dark, I kept his taillights in my view, doing about 140(therebouts) I see headlights coming up fast. I get that same uneasy feeling you all mention, and when it pulls up beside me...Yup, He gives me a real evil look, as I let off the gas, and He nails it to go after the Subaru. He must have seen what I was doing, using the Subaru driver as the pace car, and never stopped me. But he did get the Subaru, woulda hated to see the size of that ticket, that officer looked MAD!!!
